Abergele & Pensarn was the location of two LMS caravans (camping coaches) in 1935 and 1936 followed by three caravans from 1937 to 1939. The LMS had begun to use these in 1934, when Heysham (now Heysham Port) was one of the stations used - there were three caravans there then.

Fishguard Harbour is one of only two stations fully or partly in private ownership but served by Great Western Railway services. The other one is Okehampton, where part of the station remains owned by Devon County Council.

The Guardian included the Barnstaple station café in its 2009 list of 'the ten best station cafés' as selected by the author Dixe Wills. The cafe at Yeovil Junction station was in a list of highly recommended cafes in the same article.
