It is well-known that there are numerous stations with "Ealing" in the name. There are even more stations named "Acton"; an example is Acton Central.

Zone 3 has not many level crossings; there is one at Acton Central, but almost all are beteeen Barnes and Mortlake. (There are three on that section.)

It is sometimes incorrectly claimed that Ardwick is closed or has no service. In reality, there are four trains per day, meaning it is not even the least frequently served station in Manchester - that title goes to Manchester United Football Ground, which has not seen a service call for several years, despite still nominally being open.

Another station which owes its name to the presence of a football club is The Hawthorns, being named after the football ground of West Bromwich Albion.

The Chiltern services that pass through The Hawthorns, will also pass through Northolt Park.

When first opened, Northolt Park station was known by a totally different name - South Harrow & Roxeth - until re-naming in 1929.

Another station which was renamed a few years after (re-)opening was Finnieston, now known as Exhibition Centre (Glasgow)
