It has been suggested that when Kendal get their new Scans ME will take some Tridents from KL to replace the two remaining Leylands and our remaining S reg Tridents. Anyone know if there is any merit to this rumour/theory?

I think ME will have 7 Tridents from KL, dispose the Leyland's and send the 3 s reg tridents to PR to replace there Leyland's and a volvo oly and barrow will receive the other to see off its final one. So i think with the new orders and volvo olys being displaced around the country when the scans and E300's arrive there should only be a few Leyland's left and 2011 could see the end of them in the North West

I believe around the end of the year so maybe Sep/Oct.

As has been mentioned before I reckon ME will lose the 4 M reg B10B's and maybe a few B10s as well when the E300s turn up.. It will all become clear eventually when people in the know are aloud to tell us but until then we'll just have to keep guessing or wait for our E300s to turn up and see what happens!

Getting 9.
6 for 555/556, and 2 for schools, leaving 1 spare (also cover winter 599's).
In summer holidays, all 9 should be on 555's, along with an extra vehicle.
Kendal should have only had 9 Tridents, but what was going to be a loan from Morecambe (18364, so that the summer 555's could run as low floor as possible) turned to a full allocation. 16647 was due to replace 16184 at Kendal, when 16647 was released from LL with 17017 going in, but 16647 had to be diverted to Preston for the extra college runs, and 4C.

As has been mentioned before I reckon ME will lose the 4 M reg B10B's and maybe a few B10s as well when the E300s turn up.. It will all become clear eventually when people in the know are aloud to tell us but until then we'll just have to keep guessing or wait for our E300s to turn up and see what happens!

Remember that 21005/7 are already withdrawn on paper. They can't withdraw a withdrawn bus.
There's been a rumour of 4 MANs to Kendal and 2 to Preston, allowing ME to lose the last 2 B10B's and 4 B10M's. If that rumour turns out to be true, it'll leave enough MAN's to cover all of ME's standard single deck services, hopefully meaning the B10M's only end up on the school runs.
Things could probably change between now and the E300's turning up though, so we'll find out more nearer the time!

Am I right in thinking that 47758 is still listed North West Reserve, or has it gone somewhere? 47755, 47759 and 47760 all seem to have turned up in Inverness plus ex Air Direct 747/Fife branded 47232 - apparently 47233 as well.

I would actually say that the X1 should be a priorty to get LF. Its an express link between the Uni and town and you often get a lot of students getting on with heavy luggage going to/from the train station.

Also could Gez's comment mean KL are actually going to keep some Tridents? Or maybe something else...

No what I mean is when we get E300s the older MANs can go onto the X1. They appear on there quite often anyway and it only needs 2.

Good question, I don't think so no. I think the PVR went down to 12 and then they put short 3s on between the Uni and town to keep a direct and high frequency link for students.

Could some of KL's Tridents go to Chorley?

Would seem like a good idea but apart from schools the only decker service they run is 125/126 which are run by Scania's and the X61 which have had olys refurbished and are apparently meant to be receiving route branding for it so i very much doubt it and they also have a couple of our 170xx Tridents

The reason I say it is Cainebj pointed out that the Olys will soon be to old to operate the school contracts as the contract specifies a certain age. So it could be that CY are put in the amazing situation of having young LF deckers on schools...

Forum member ALX400 may be able to give us more info on that point...

As some of you are aware, I have just had a week in Devon, where a small number Manchester Volvo Olympains have just turned-up!, with 16775 already in service at Barnstaple.

On my way up the M5 on Saturday, between Jcts 23 & 22 I passed two more UID Volvo Olympains with Stagecoach Manchester fleetnames enroute into Devon.

Hopefully, Gez will known which ones these were.

Indeed we were simply because we had received 4 already. However the point was made that a lot of them may be short wheelbase which isn't great. However I think we all take in account when making this "Predictions" or suggest scenarios that we are often wrong or things suddenly change. For example KL getting Scans means maybe we don't need as many Olys coming into the Northwest etc. If we all knew what was happening it would spoil the fun!!!

Similar situation to what happens in Fife. Here, the age limit (which applies to tendered stage carriage services as well) is 17 years. Every depot at Fife except Rennies has at least one LF decker.

Possible, "Western" had been mistaken for "Manchester" with a passing speed of about 125-130mph, and trying to look accross four lanes of traffic.
