Workington... Yay.
Is 52629 in the stagecoach corporate livery because i have not seen it once since i was withdrawn from lillyhall?

Yes, Carlisle repainted it before it went to Preston... then it had a bang in depot down there..

BEU and BEJ on 301 today, with 47617 (I think!) doing the short 301 to Wigton this morning.
47007 on Workington town services and an 04 plate Solo on Whitehaven - Maryport 30.

RIVAL CARLISLE BUS FIRMS CALLED TO MEETING WITH WATCHDOG

Two rival bus companies have been called for a meeting with the Traffic Commissioner after going head to head for fares on routes in Carlisle.

Wigton-based firm Reays launched its City Hopper services in October and since then Stagecoach has slashed prices and started selling tickets at city bus stops.

Stagecoach was accused of not treating Reays Coaches as healthy competition after cutting the price of a day ticket by £1.

But the bus giant hit back, claiming that ticket machines and additional inspectors were not related to Reays’s presence in the city.

It has emerged this week that both companies are to meet the area Traffic Commissioner.

A spokeswoman for the commissioner confirmed a meeting had been scheduled but said it would be held in chambers.

She would not reveal the reason for the meeting but it is understood it relates to the ongoing rivalry between the two companies.

The closed meeting has been organised for the commissioner to consult with both companies in private.

The spokeswoman added it may have been called for a number of reasons and said it does not necessarily imply wrongdoing or that a public enquiry will be called.

Stagecoach and Reays declined to comment.

Mmmmm interesting what they going to say "play nice children! Stagecoach don't bully Reays they are smaller then you" If Reays can't compete they shouldn't have launched new routes that were in direct competition with SC. What did they think would happen that SC would just sit back and let them muscle in? Of course they are going to slash prices that's what happens when two companies be them transport or otherwise compete. Its business.

yes. it is ready for service now. its main use is for rail replacements, but it will see use on school work and the 685 as well. I will be in Carlisle on monday morning to see if it makes it onto 685.
it has replaced Interurban 52408.

Have fun with 52629 then, that's it if makes it up North. It was working X61 services off Preston on Friday but failed early afternoon before departing to Manchester. It received attention from TONKA but was dumped on a spare stand. It was later sent out again to Manchester so can't have been too terminal.

Here it is on stand with TONKA parked behind, http://davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p68185734.html

Also out on Friday was Oly 14243 which was working the 4C to Preston College along with 16647.
http://davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p68185738.html

Other observations from Preston on Friday included:
16184 and 34579 on the 1,
16331 on the 59,
33203 on the 9 with 33204 on the 3,
17021 on the 2,
47704 on the 44,
14556 on the 11.
16327, 16352 & 16645 all seen during the day parked up spare.

Also, while sorting through some of my pictures, I've noticed a change of number plate for two of Chorley's E400s. I don't know how long ago it happened or if its been mentioned before on here. 15566 and 15567 have had their plates swapped over. They were originally PX59CUH & PX59CUJ respectively but they are now the other way around. Are these the only two to have been so treated or have others had the same done to them?

I wish officials would get their facts right before doing stuff like this
the only price I'm aware of that Stagecoach have reduced, is their Carlisle Citi Dayrider, which has gone from £3.30 to £2.90 to £2.60. i make that a reduction of 70p, not £1!
the ticket machines are the ones used at Windermere Rail Station over summer. last winter they were used at Lancaster Uni, this winter they're in use at Carlisle. next winter, they could be in Workington, or Whitehaven, or back at Lancaster Uni, or maybe even in Barrow town centre! they're just put to use instead of having them sat around doing nothing.
Stagecoach have stopped parking buses in the city centre to do catch up runs on Citi Services, due to Reays blocking the Stagecoach buses in!!! so now the buses are parked up at the bus station again (as they were before Reays started operating their services), blocking up the stands, so now it is chaos when there's 3 spare buses sat at the bus station, 3 national express coaches trying to get in, and service buses not being able to get to their stands cos a bus is parked there so a national express coach could get through! Carlisle depot have been doing this for quite a long time, it isn't a new thing. If a bus service is running more than a few minutes late, they've always sent out a spare bus to minimise disruption to passengers! say a bus is running late going to Belle Vue, they'll send a spare bus out to do a City Centre - Belle Vue, which runs back to City Centre in service, where it is taken over by the late running Dart (back onto timetabled time by then). the late running bus would run "Not in Service" to drop off any passengers on board, then runs empty to the city centre, waiting for the spare bus to get back in for any through-passengers.
(will add at this point that Reays actions to blocking Stagecoach buses in layby's that are for Citi catch ups, has p*ssed off scottish operator James King, who often park up in the same layby. on wednesday when the Reays bus moved, the James King driver moved the bus so that Reays couldn't get back in )

52408 and 52627 on 685.
34048 short 685.
20960 on 1640 300 (my ride home). it picked up speed extremely well!
20943 and 20977 on 66 through the day.
20977 went onto 600 this evening.
20909 on a short 104 to Penrith.
16353 sounding poor on 214.
33076 flying around, with only 2 0's on its Sorry Not In Service message. it should have 3! the bright tech on that seems to have a mind of its own  wasn't too long ago when it was showing "St Anns Iill 76" instead of "St Anns Hill 76"! now it has decided to miss off a 0!

Carlisle Citi Dayrider advert has changed. it is now the same style as Stagecoach North East:
"ALL DAY TICKET £2.60" in big white lettering on the side of the bus.

Mmmmm 4 Olys! Do you know what type they are?

Bit of an exiting morning at the University today. A pedestrian walking by the Uni reported to the police that a bus had been hijacked prompting 3 police cars and a van to speed up to campus and fly around trying to find it. They even took of the supervisors in a quad car to help track it down. After all that it turned out to be a false alarm and nothing at all had happened. Also the ticket machine used at the Uni has broken so they had 20128 up there in the afternoon with its machine and they just printed off singles and returns in groups of 5 and 10.

Nice timing with the old Stagecoach vs Reays Watchdog meeting going on this week ;) Exactly the same, except price at £3.40 up in Newcastle :|

They certainly could have stook a steppy on Seaton as both of theirs were LF to get at least one LF on Moorclose (34218 personal choice from what I've heard and I know what a shed 47005 is compared to other Solo's!)
Hopefully get a ride on 34218 when I'm back in West Cumbria this weekend!! With my luck, it'll make its first appearance in Whitehaven! >.<
Hurry up 34215 :D

Is it just me, or is there no 38 timetable on the Stagecoach website at the moment. When I search for the 38, I get sorry, no results. I shall give them the benefit of the doubt and say the revised timetable is about to be uploaded, but the changes did take effect yesterday. No sign of the new timetable on the Cumbria County Council website either.

It might well be me: I have only just noticed the timetables for the Boxing Day services in Carlisle, but then I wasn't looking for them as I don't recall there having been any before in the 9 years I have been living here.

Anyone have any idea what's left to be delivered for the current SC order? I think Scotland are due some E300/400s at some point but I've lost track of the rest.

checked in the bus station before the bus home, and it hasn't been updated (don't think it will be until nearer the time of sunday services starting actually!).

20960 on the 1640 Carlisle - Workington 300 again.
16353 on 214 again.

Just for Dallam Lad, 16708 landed at Willowholme this pm with more to follow

16706 and 16711 came over yesterday. 16709 should have came today with 16708, but it is broke
for those who haven't clicked on to which buses they are, they are N706 LTN, N708 LTN, N709 LTN and N711 LTN, all short wheelbase, Cummins engined, with Alexander RL bodywork. currently have Bright Tech Dot Matrix displays, and retrimmed bench seats. not for much longer though apparently ;)

Doubtful, seen as though 16733 has had brand new ones put in. Some of the ones removed from K---DAO's at Lillyhall were in pretty poor condition anyway.

Yeah you're right, if they ones that are sat at Morecambe are ever used they would need work lol.
