Any news on 16666 Jonesy?

They moved 16666 from the garage into demic row today but i`ll ask tomorrow hope it doesn`t end up like 16648 (no engine and gearbox) .

Whats happened to the Versas ?, only saw Solos on 6A's until about 18.18, when i saw UID roller blind fitted Trident in the Parliament Street bus lane displaying 6B Morecambe!!! (Whats a 6B when its at home, Gez)

Earlier this evening saw 18326 on 6A's

21005 on X1's
21007 came into the bus station at 1050, and left again about 1055 on 42 Blackpool. Looks nice with its new coat of paint, petty about the destination display.

The future of 16666 will be decided today as it has gained a crack in the chassis after being refurbed in june last year.

Was that one of the buses that had received a pink slip, yesterday morning from the VOSA inspection at Ripley School ?

This from one of the investigators from the CC questioning the ex director of PB:

“You keep saying that the company needed to change and I can see where you
were coming from but if you look at what the service that was offered to
customers, you had a high density network, low fares, buses which were – as far
as I can tell – fairly new, it is not entirely clear to me what was wrong with the
company. I mean, apart from the fact, yes, it did not operate like other companies
and had its own little quirks but from a customer point of view I fail to see what
was wrong.”

LL's 20195 (M595 OSO) and 20777 (K777 DAO) have both gone for repaint.

guessing it was 20195 i saw up there on tuesday morning then! was in the bus wash after being rubbed down.

20436 on LL operated 300.
33169, 47005 and 47023 on Harrington, with 101 and 30S in between.
47060 on 50. running 10 mins late at one point.
47024 on 51.
16734 on Whitehaven - Workington 300.
16733 was on annexe, with 20768 and 42565. 42565 went on staff shuttles. 20768 used as staff bus to footbridge.
22596 on 30 vibrating rather a lot. part of the vent on offside at rear was a bit smashed, with all the parts vibrating rather a lot. wonder if a megarider wallet sticky thingy was eventually used to stick them down

yet again, at the footbridge at one point this afternoon, was 22608 on 31, 47023 on 101, the fiesta van, and 20768. only the driver on 20768, only driver in fiesta van, and 2 members of staff on 47023 travelling to the footbridge.

Morecambe-Morecambe via Regent Rd/Branksome 6B
Morecambe-Morecambe via Branksome/Regent Rd 6B

Morecambe-Lancaster 6A.

It wasnt really something to look forward to especially in a hot summer in a 709D, but it was better than 8 trips to the Vale!

The 6/6A/B/C were revised in 2004(?) with the withdrawal of the 6B, 6C and the Carleton St 6 only running two or three times a day. Eventually the 6 was re-routed to run along the 6C route.

You want to try doing 11 round trips on the 8C, five days a week!!!, The South Circular bit is not to bad, its the going though Ryelands 22 times, to/from St. Chads, trying to aviod the little darlings throwing stones, etc.

Sounds bit like when 47002 brokedown in King Street, and it took three & half hours for the tow truck to get to it!, due to the traffic jam it caused.

Black Friday....what happened?

I think it was 2003 not long after the Tridents entered service. Early one morning a chemicals lorry crashed on the M6 between J34 and J33 spilling its load and melting the road surface resulting in the motorways closure. The police diverted all traffic through Lancaster causing absolute mayhem for the best part of 24hrs destroying the bus service. Gez stopped all long distance services (05:35 40 Preston got there around 13:00) such as 40/41/42/80s etc beause they were getting stranded and was trying keep local services running with short workings using anything and everything hence me using a VR on the 2.

Oh, I remember that!

The 0715 556 (as it was then) finally arrived in Lancaster at 1100ish - nearly 3 hours late. That's the only time I was glad to be on 20775, for its seats.

Much fun was had at the expense of Our Ladies people, who got off for a cigarette and weren't allowed back on as they stank of smoke!

I remember that as well when they sent out everything but the kitchen sink out into service,i was on the night shift at the time, we got some buses fuelled and they had to go back into service. We had nothing to do for an hour then all of a sudden they all started piling in.
In other news;
16666 is going to newcastle to have it's chassis redone and 47157 has had a partial repaint.

heard that 47148 (PX54 EXM, from Preston) has went on loan to Manchester to cover for an accident damaged Solo.

Evening all,
Its been reported on every other group bar this one so for anyone who dosen't know here goes,
Stagecoach North West Solo 47148, complete with 'Boomerang - Bamber Bridge & Preston' route branding and mega riders decals at £13.50, has been loaned to AZ for the next week while there own Solo is preped for Mot. Apprently 40660 carnt be used, whether its for filming or because its off the road im not sure.

Also, i think the ghost of 16648 lives on in the form of 16650 at Chorley, i heard it gained a gearbox from a crocked bus further up north, might just be me getting 2+2=5, been pretty quiet at Chorley, apart from the obvious apperance on the news of 15563, with a special number plate and destination, the reason for this escapes me at the moment...

If you remember, the NBC re-engined Leyland engines VRT's with Gardener engines, also some of the Nationals were re-engined with Volvo engines.

You have a point it has happened before with 5207(C207 FVU) a GM BUSES express bus that started life with a cummins engine and ended life with a gardner engine.
