I Used to work in Lillyhall, for Retail Variations PLC (Past Times Gifts) over the road from LL depot, in the old Leyland Factory...

I've heard from a mate who works "next door" in Eddie Stobbarts, that a "transport" company is looking at the site when Stobbarts go up to carlisle airport Full Time....

I think cainebj said that the Kendal Trident in Carlisle was 18358.

indeed it was! a few pics of it are now on my Flickr, along with pics of the Primo and Solo Reays are testing out on route 75.

The side of the building Stobbarts currenty use (closest to the big roundabout with the rusty statue on ) is perfect for a bus depot... it has a load of big high bay doors in a row, and is basically a big warehouse-come-garage. (i only know this, because when i was at retail variations, my office window ovelooked the yard! ) The site is perfectly suited for the job really.

Let the battle commence! Hahahaaaa. Wonder which other council contracts Reays are after? Would be nice if they put Rosies out of business. Makes you wonder who the hell is handing out operators licenses! :roll:

So it would seem Looks like Reays are going to put some more investment into that side of the business. Be interesting to see whether they go for the Primo or the Solo.

Having had recent experience, with both a Plaxton Primo & an Optare Solo, when I was at Princess Coaches (R.I.P). I personal preferred the Plaxton Primo, as it was better at pulling away from bus stops, and going uphills!

Just out of curiosity, how do you fix dead batteries on a Solo?

With great difficulty given I have a busted rib at the moment, Need to dismantle the front then very carefully attach the postive jump lead to one of the batteries, not a lot of room to get it in though and can easily blow the brain, as I have done previously. and the neg to a suitable earth

In an ideal world, it'd be good if small operators would take over the contracts requiring Varios (nothing bigger) from Stagecoach, as that'd allow more (larger) low floor buses to move in...

Primo it is then! I do like the look of them and they have a good turn of speed

Funny you should say that 'cos I heard the 222 being mentioned, and judging by what I saw AA running the X6 with on Sunday it wouldn't surprise me if they end up with that aswel! :roll:

Hmmmm Wonder if anyone actually uses that X6? I can't see there being many takers for it. Yeah, AA are a pretty dodgy outfit. :roll:

Reays has an all white Optare Solo, YJ59GGP, on the 75 today.

I was at the bus station this lunch with a friend (he was meeting his girlfriend...:roll, 18372 was on 555, 18363 on 2A and pretty much everything else "normal" (allocation wise anyway!!)

20463 still soldiers on, on the 940 this morning.

47002 whilst working 1040 89 Knott End Service. At about 1045 in King Street, between Spring Garden Street and Common Garden Street.

When i passed the late running 1240 Knott End service in Ashton Road at about 1310 it had a full load.

17024 on the 2a along with some 2005's.
22805 come of the 3 to Lancaster and left the bus station heading back toward Morecambe.
16877 came down from the top of town and parked up at the bus station, assume it has been on schools.
17020 on 81a.

47005, 47007 and 47060 on Harrington & 101.
20134, 20761, 33169 and 42565 all flying around.
16647 and 16734 on 300. 16647 still has non-opt Flip Dot. it also still carries Ribble Motor Services legals.
22596 and 22600 both around sounding rather knackered!
20768 and 53337 on X5.

Rater pleasing to see all 3 Leylands out and about earning their keep....14196 was returning to the depot and 14208 was on 1610 55A this afternoon.

18355 on the 556 - it's well on the way to developing a bad misfire that will ultimately send it to Morecambe or Lillyhall for attention.

Parked the car in Windermere yesterday and had a ride with William Wordsworth on the 0838 555 to Kendal.

Noted in Kendal were 18280 & 14266 on X35. Took a nice photo of 14199,14252,14253,14256 & 14259 on Kendal depot forecourt. Also there was Solo 47009 with a "Do Not Use" on the steering wheel. Local services were being covered by 33170, 47008, 47055, 47056, 47058. Travelled back with Alfred Wainwright and the bus was pretty full. Therefore, I had to sit near the back upstairs. I wondered why no one else was sitting at the back? Of course - THEY COULDN'T SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS. I moved forward at Staveley!!
