I remember the first time I saw a Stagecoach Enviro 300, I thought it had entered service unbranded due to the lack of the blue swirl at the front. Later I assumed this was a decision that was taken specifically in the case of Enviro 200/300 bodies due to their design, but now Wright Streetlights and ex-First Wrights have started turning up in the blue-lacking version of the livery too. To add to the confusion, some ex-First vehicles of the same type have recieved the blue swirl, while others haven't.

Why did Stagecoach take the decision to apply one livery to some vehicles and a different one to others? I feel not having the blue at the front makes it ugly, with Stagecoach's entire E300 fleet looking like they've entered service half-painted. I'd love it if someone could knock up a render of what one would look like in full Stagecoach colours. This just seems like a bizarre decision when other new vehicles do still get the blue bit, so any insight would be appreciated.

Enviro200s/300s have never had the blue swoop at the front.

The Streetlites have received the new mini livery, as applied to Solos with light blue under the window. Personally I rather like the new Solo style as it makes the vehicles look less cluttered and a little bigger.

Wright Eclipses should be painted with a front blue swoop; it appears Hyde Rd and Gillmoss depots have misinterpreted the email about the new optare livery. If you look closely, the blue round the light clusters on them has been done in such a way as to make them look like enviros! There should have been no change to the dart livery either.

Don't mean to disagree with you or anything, but... http://www.flickr.com/photos/63730085@N07/6864215629/

Chester/Wigan seem to have done Eclipses in both varieties. And the new Solos all seem to be white-fronted as well, although their body shape means most of the blue wouldn't exist anyway.

I'm just curious to know the thinking behind having this difference.

Those E200s were a one off as the painting depot simply used the lines of the green livery they carried before. I think they've all been painted back to normal now - certainly they're the only ones I'm aware of that have had front swoops.

The only ex-First vehicles on the Wirral with front swoops were painted by Carlisle when they were transferred from Wigan.

The mostly white Solos are the new livery.

I do like having the blue at the front, at least the blue is still under the windscreen but I've seen some solos painted into white swoops at the front and it looks awful.

The Eastbourne MCVs are being prepared for return to Dawsonrentals. (Eastbourne Buses leased them and this was carried on when Stagecoach bought them out. They are now coming off lease.)
