Temporary works on City Road, St. Andrews affecting multiple services
22 Jun 2026 to 26 Jun 2026

Due to EV Connection works on City Road, St. Andrews the following services will be diverted as buses are unable to turn left into the bus station or turn right out the bus station, from Monday 22nd June.

90A, 91A, 90B - Outbound will turn left out of bus station down City Rd turn around Old Course roundabout and back up City road onto normal route.

Services 90A, 91A, 90B heading towards the bus station from Bell Street, will divert by Greyfriars Gardens, turn left onto North Street then left onto City Road into bus station.

Services 91, 90C, 90 will turn left out of bus station down City Road and turn using the Old Course roundabout and back up City road onto normal route.

Services 91,90C, 90 heading towards the bus station from Bell Street will divert via Greyfriars Gardens, turn left onto North Street, then left onto City Road and into bus station.

Services 95, X58 and X61 heading towards St Andrews will divert down City Road and turn using the Old course roundabout, back up City Road into Bus Station.

Services 95, X58 and X61 heading towards Leven will turn left out of bus station down City Road and turn using the Old Course roundabout, back up City Road onto normal route.

Was it Stagecoach's 40/40A?
I might be mislead but I seem to remember a 40/40A being a Leven service around 2005-2010? Not sure where it went though.

The old 40/40A back in the 1990s was 3 trips each way: Glenrothes - Kinross - Glenfrag - Gateside - Glenrothes. In January 1999, it become 36B Glenrothes - Gateside and 201 Glenrothes - Kinross.

Then from 2003? 40 was Kirkcaldy - woodside - Glenrothes north service

Yes, 5 were out today. Worth mentioning that this also marks the (re)opening of the Seagate depot in Dundee as a charging facility. All 5 appeared at Dundee yesterday and were there overnight.

Not hanging around with moves out of St Andrews either. 26121-3 apparently all at Aberhill, ahead of what I presume will be repaint and onward transfer to Perth.

27134 has moved to Aberhill, likely to replace 28661 which for now appears to be soldiering on for schools, of course which will stop for the summer come the weekend. While the lone Scania E300 at St Andrews 28643 appears to have been withdrawn.

The one I can’t quite add up is which older vehicle will remain at St Andrews. It’s due 16 BZL’s, however there are 17 vehicles that are potentially replaced - 12 E200mmc’s, 4 E300’s and 1 Scania E300. I had always believed the E200’s would stay put. Would they swap 27122 with 76126 at Arbroath? Or just accept the loss of 1 bus, or keep something older there as a spare.

The MMC’s I suspect will be 26112-3 to Glenrothes, 26114-5 to Blairgowrie and 26116-123 to Perth. All to replace the final E300’s that remain at those depots, leaving just 5 at Arbroath and 10 at Aberhill.

Service Changes - Fife & Perth 17th August 202611 Jun 2026 to 07 Sep 2026​

From Monday the 17th of August we will be making some changes to our services in Fife.

A summary of what is changing and the new timetables are below:

Fife Changes
Service 3 – The 1449 from Dunfermline Bus Station and 1500 from Townhill will now run Monday to Friday during both school term and non-school periods.
Service 4 – The 1515 from Dunfermline Bus Station and 1545 from Blairhall will now run Monday to Friday throughout the year.
Service 4B – Minor route change in Dunfermline. On return journeys from Fife Leisure Park, the service will now operate via Sandpiper Drive and Aberdour Road, continuing to Tesco and the current route.
Service 5 – Due to a continued decline in customer demand, this service will be withdrawn.
Service 6/6A – Timetables have been revised to reflect changes to contracted journeys.
Service 7 – Evening journeys via Camdean will be reinstated.
Service 7B/7C/7D – Revised route and timetable. These services will no longer serve Spittalfield Road and Spencerfield Road; however, service 88 will continue to provide links for this area.
Service 8A – Timetable updated to reflect contract changes.
Service 19 – Timetable revised to improve reliability in response to ongoing congestion and roadworks.
Service 28 – Timetable updated to reflect contract changes.
Service 31 – From 20 August 2026, this service will be operated by Bay Travel on behalf of Fife Council.
Service 32 – Minor route change in Kirkcaldy. Most journeys will now extend beyond Glenrothes Bus Station to Glenrothes Depot via Morrisons.
Service 33/33A – Timetable updated to reflect contract changes.
Service 43 – Minor adjustments to school day afternoon timetable
Service 81/81A/82/82A – Timetables revised to provide more reliable journeys.
Service 83/87 – From 20 August 2026, this service will be operated by Stagecoach. The route will be revised to operate as far as Inverkeithing Railway Station, no longer serving Ferrytoll, North Queensferry station or Hillend Village. These areas will continue to be served by the West Fife Flexi Bus, operated by Moffat & Williamson on behalf of Fife Council. The service will also operate via Izatt Avenue, and journeys will extend beyond Dunfermline Bus Station to serve Wellwood.
Service 88/88A – Timetable updated to reflect contract changes.
Service 89/89A/89B – From 20 August 2026, this service will be operated by Bay Travel on behalf of Fife Council.
Service 787 – An additional early morning journey will operate from Edinburgh Airport to Halbeath Park & Ride via Ferrytoll at 0225.
Service X27 – Early morning journey withdrawn due to low customer demand. Evening journeys have been retimed.
Service X51 – The 1535 non-school-day journey will now run Monday to Friday, replacing the 1556 school-day journey from Ferrytoll.
Service X57 – Route and timetable revised to improve reliability. Due to low usage, the service will no longer serve Amazon in Dunfermline and the route will now run via Greenshank Drive and Lapwing Drive on journeys towards Edinburgh.
Service X58 – Late night journeys will now operate via Aberdour, Burntisland and Kinghorn.

Perth Changes
Service 3/3A – Due to ongoing access issues, buses will no longer serve Birch Avenue.
Service 4 – The 1629 non-school-day journey from Bertha Park will run at 1639 Monday to Friday, replacing the previous 57U and 1634 school-day journeys.
Service 6 – Due to access issues, this service will no longer serve St Magdalene’s Road and will instead operate via Glenlyon Road and Glenearn Road.
Service 13 – Due to access issues, this no longer serves Queens Ave or Woodside Crescent, instead it turns to serve Darnhall Rd. It also omits Blair Street due to access issues.
Service 14/14A – Service 14 will no longer serve Dobbies due to low customer usage and delays caused by traffic on the A85. It will also no longer serve Lumsden Crescent due to access issues, but will instead serve Pitcairngreen.
Service 14A will no longer serve Pitcairngreen, but will continue to serve Lumsden Crescent, as a smaller vehicle is used.
Service 17 – Revised route for journeys which start/finish in Dunning
Service 24 – The 1715 journey from Ballinluig will depart later at 1720 to maintain connections with the Docherty service from Perth.
Service 57/57A/57U – Timetables revised to reflect new school times at Blairgowrie High School. The afternoon 57U will now start from Crieff Road at 1635. To improve reliability, service 57 will no longer serve Perth Bus Station and will instead start from South Street. Service 57A will continue to serve the Bus Station.
Service 59/71/857 – Timetables revised to reflect new school times at Blairgowrie High School.
Service 70 – Due to access issues, this service will no longer serve St Magdalene’s Road and will instead operate via Glenlyon Road and Glenearn Road

10524 is still at Arbroath hence why I’ve concluded it is probably the 4th vehicle for Dunfermline.

10674 is tracking as spare machine 99021, so my assumption is 10674’s tracking will be one of the transferred 67 plates. I’m sure that will be rectified shortly.

Ive heard there was more decker coaches on order for the X59. It's unclear whats planned for the X58,X61. X51/55/56 wont be due new stock until 2029/2030.

It just a VERY odd time to cut X56 as the Edinburgh Festival is still ongoing and you need every spare bus going to help carry passengers. The X56 can still be busy on Edinburgh side. IS Service X56 going completely? 15 has a change and so does 56

Service update: Perth service changes, from Monday 24 August 202614 Jul 2026 to 21 Sep 2026​

From Monday 24 August, we're making some changes to services across Perth to help us provide a more reliable and sustainable bus network.

The changes include revised timetables to improve reliability, route adjustments to better match how customers travel, additional journeys on some routes, and changes to a small number of services where customer demand has reduced.

Key changes include:
• Revised routes on services 3/3A, 6, 13 and 70 due to access restrictions.
• Changes to services 14/14A and selected journeys on services 17, 24 and 815.
• Timetable and route updates across a number of services to improve reliability.
• The withdrawal of service X56 between Perth and Edinburgh due to low customer demand.

Service 3/3A – Kinnoul Street – South Street
Due to access restrictions, buses will no longer serve Birch Avenue.

Service 4 – Mill Street – Bertha Park
The 16:29 non-school-day journey from Bertha Park will be replaced by a 16:39 Monday to Friday journey, replacing the 57U and 16:34 school-day journeys.

Service 6 – Mill Street - Moncrieffe
Due to access restrictions, buses will no longer serve St Magdalene's Road and will instead operate via Glenlyon Road and Glenearn Road.

Service 13 – Kinnoul – Huntingtower Park
Due to access restrictions, buses will no longer serve Queens Avenue, Woodside Crescent or Blair Street. The service will instead operate via Darnhall Road.

Service 14/14A – Perth City Centre – Pitcairngreen
As a result of low customer demand and traffic delays, buses will no longer serve Dobbies Garden Centre.
Due to access restrictions requiring different vehicle sizes to be used on each route, service 14 will be revised to serve Pitcairngreen and will no longer serve Lumsden Crescent.
Service 14A will be revised to serve Lumsden Crescent and will no longer serve Pitcairngreen.

Service 15/15A – Perth – Stirling
We've made some changes to services between Perth, Crieff and Stirling.
Service 15 will now operate between Perth, Crieff and Dalginross only. Customers travelling onwards to Stirling can simply change buses at Crieff and continue their journey on service 15A.

Service 815 Inveralmond - Crieff
To reduce duplication across the network, the afternoon journey between Inveralmond and Crieff will no longer operate. Customers can continue to travel on service 15, which serves the same route.

Service 17 – Perth – Auchterarder
Due to local access restrictions, some journeys that start or finish in Dunning will operate via a revised route.

Service 24 – Ballinluig
The 17:15 journey from Ballinluig will leave five minutes later at 17:20 to maintain connections with onward services from Perth.

Service 70 – Inveralmond – Moncreiffe
Due to access restrictions, buses will no longer serve St Magdalene's Road and will instead operate via Glenlyon Road and Glenearn Road.

Service X56 – Perth to Edinburgh
After careful review of our network, we've made the difficult decision to withdraw service X56 between Perth and Edinburgh, from Monday 24 August 2026.
We understand this’ll be disappointing news for customers who use the service, and we'd like to thank everyone who has travelled with us on the route.
As customer demand has continued to decline, we can no longer operate the service sustainably. This decision has not been taken lightly, and we're sorry for the impact this change may have on your journeys.
While service X56 is being withdrawn, customers will still have a number of alternative travel options between Perth and Edinburgh. Frequent coach services operated by Scottish Citylink will continue to provide direct links between the two cities throughout the day.
Customers travelling between Perth and Bridge of Earn can continue to use services 17, 55, 56 and 65, while those travelling to or from Milnathort can continue to use services 55 and 56.

If what I was told is to be believed, you are correct but it will be 4bph between Dundee and Carnoustie

Not bad for a guess, then!

The 74 and 72 between them give Dundee/Monifieth/Carnoustie a link to Dobbies, with the 74 also providing a connection for the Monifieth "suburbs" onto Dundee/Arbroath services.

What's lost is the direct service to Dobbies and the Monifieth "suburbs" along most of the current 74 route east of the city centre. I assume it also restores the Xplore near-monopoly on Broughty Ferry Road (with the infrequent 78/79 being the only competition).
