What is 13050 doing at Aberdeen?
The last time one was there it had been at Volvo in Aberdeen.
There was a recent photo on Facebook of 13050 at the Stagecoach Aberdeen depot. Someone has now told me it's there for an MOT.
Volvo usually do Aberdeen MOTs.
Isn't the B5LH vehicle computer-restricted to 43mph?
Does this not affect safety when they are driven on rural dual carriageways and motorways? As other traffic is likely to be doing around 60-70mph and probably isn't expecting to come across a vehicle only doing 40mph, especially on a motorway.
Several websites say that driving anything slower than 50mph on a motorway can be dangerous.

Don't see the problem on roads which are not subject to motorway restrictions. After all, you get tractors on dual carriageways chugging along at 30mph and slower.

That's just an operator specification and can be changed by Volvo dealership.

16 plate ADL Enviro400 MMCs: 10671-10673 have now transferred Stagecoach East Scotland from Stagecoach Oxfordshire to replace Arbroath's 2015 (and Perth's 2017?) B5LHs, according to bustimes.org and a post on Facebook.

Yeah I had thought of that too. I thought I remembered a post here saying that "websites saying that 40mph on a motorway is dangerous are likely to be offering their opinion on the matter and not fact"; I can't see that post now but having considered it I would tend to agree.
No the Stagecoach East Scotland ones are limited to 50mph (and one used to be limited to 57mph)

Ahh okay, thanks both.

Reported on this week's Oxford Chiltern Bus Page some of these will be transferring as soon as the electrics enter service in Oxford - not sure how many but presumably enough to allow the 2015 B5LHs to be withdrawn. These will start to be moved once charging infrastructure is live in Oxford, with the buses being stored and ready to enter service.
Do we know what is planned for the B5LHs?
Think they're being sold to Manchester for the Metroline operations

A comment on Facebook says 10674/75/76 have also left Oxford and are on their way to Arbroath now. I wonder how long until they enter service?

Does Oxford have 28 spare E400MMC? that's the number East Scotland is due to get shortly.

Well there’s 55 new E400EVs due to enter service imminently, although not all at once. So yes they could cascade that many E400MMCs out. This plan to get the Volvo Hybrids out of Scotland seems to have thrown internal cascades within Stagecoach West into doubt, but I’m sure all will become clear soon!

I wouldn't say the internal cascades are in doubt, just delayed. Certainly the tone of the comms within East Scotland was that they'd only have cascaded vehicles temporarily until ADL could deliver their new, delayed EVs.
You'd assume that once said EVs arrive, the MMCs will go back to West...

That suggests the East Scotland EVs can't be too far away - but have they started on depot work at Arbroath (or anywhere else)? If not the cascaded E400 MMCs from Oxford (understood to be 10668-83, the 16-reg batch, at least to replace the Tayway B5LHs) could be staying a while!

I wonder how long it will take for them to track under their own code.

It was on the X7 today tracking as 99097.
It must have changed codes then because it was definitely on the 73C yesterday tracking as 99091.

According to Facebook, it's only 13041-13054 going.

Praise be to Stagecoach !!

Daughter left her (uninsured) phone on the X60 from St Andrews to Anstruther this afternoon on an outing to the legendary "Wee Chippie" (very good and reasonably priced sit down)

Phone traced to Methil Depot and she was able to pick it up this evening after a quick call..

Does anyone know when the EVs for 99 St Andrews will be arriving?
Yutongs starting to appear down south so hopefully not long.

I hate to say it but, it wont be this year. I think it's all be pencilled in for the next finical year AKA April 2025 onward. Also its not clear what type of bus St Andrews is getting?
