Its been problematical today, buses

Stagecoach East Scotland would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience and disruption caused to passengers and services across the network this morning. Unfortunately we have experienced vehicle problems due to a fuel contamination issue which is affecting transport companies across the UK.
Please be assured we are working towards fixing the issues and hope for normal service to resume as soon as possible.
Apologies again for the delay and disruption, and thank you for your understanding.

Also A megabus has been sent to Glenrothes for the X59. While Perth are using E200 on the X55.

Megabuses were apparently sent to be used on the X61 as well today...

So is that the same one or were two sent down from Aberdeen? If that is the case there never sent 59 plate ex Buchan link coaches which were promised.

There was a 59 plate on X59 this morning. There was one at Glenrothes Depot at the weekend. Didn't see numbers

It seems there is problems, A Rennies coach is now operating on the X24/27.

Also the complaints are piling up over the changes to the X55/55. Lets just say I would expect changes much sooner than later.

Well the problem is contaminated fuel, and it's not just East Scotland that are facing this problem...

It's not specific to Megabus or the X55, several depots have had issues with fuel hence they have had to draft in replacement vehicles.

Unfortunately the issues with the new X55/55 are not because of that fuel problem, the complaints are piling up due to other factors.

The X55 between Perth & Dunfermline is great. Always on time so far. Not been on a branded bus since Monday though. Its mostly ex x58 buses at the moment. Yesterday morning the first bus north was 52666 which was a blast from the past.

Most complaints seem to be about rerouting between Rosyth and Inverkeithing. Interesting to note that the X55 has reverted back to the route it took via Admiralty Rd pre Fife First in 1997!

Every time I see the northern section of the X55, it dead. I don't think there much Kinross - Edinburgh traffic. Many of the Fife - Perth traffic is sticking to the the few M91 that still operate.

Wasn't it changed in 2001?

Anyways the other half of the complaints seem to be Long time it takes to get into Edinburgh, yet the same stopping pattern is still in force.

I dont think enough people realise the X55 runs to Perth.

It does beg the question where people have gone. There used to be around 4 passengers on the 0730 M91 to Perth from Halbeath P&R. There is only me getting the x55 from Halbeath Rd. Presume the rest are on the 0704 56.

I wonder how long Parks will keep going with the M91

Did you ever speak to the other passengers telling them about the X55? Maybe there just driving up instead?

I think people do know, but it now takes 1h 10m is not helping and why does it go via Bridge of Earn?

I would expect the Parks M91 to go in May, Hopeful some improvements will be made for the summer but I doubt it.

After a week travelling some observations:

- 2 passengers walked off after being told a flexirider (10/12 journey) is £50 from Kinross.

- drivers are telling passengers tayside dayriders arent available (they are listed in the timetable)

- seem to be issued with the branded buses. Have travelled on various ex x58 buses and 52666 twice!

- morning 0700 nbnd from dunfermline is getting a lot busier

-afternoon 1545 is leaving perth with about 15-20 passengers

- 1715 from perth is variable. Been busy but on Friday only 2 of us left Perth. Issue is the 56 left at the same time and 1720 M91 was in the bus stn.

- the fact it leaves perth saying kelty in bold with Edinburgh lower down scrolling in non bold is confusing folk. They think the bus only goes to Kelty. Presumably same issue Northbound.

- More passengers using Bridge of Earn than Kelty!!

I've seen a few B7R on the route. It seems Fife/perth may not have got all the coaches rebranded. Its the same for the Ex Buchan links.

Mind you Stagecoach have always side it not for end to end passengers. Mind you Fifer should know better since St Andrews has Kincardine or Glenrothes...

The passengers were saying that they only work 3 days a week. A citylink 10 journey was £38. Both drivers said that they thought it was a mistake


There are but only from Kelty to Perth.

These are passengers going from kinross to perth. Drivers cant find it on the machines. I suspect they are not set up correctly.

I suggest you tell them to tweet stagecoach East Scotland, who will resolve the issues that day. Sometime I wonder why people still have to do this to make Head office aware of issues.

I sent them tweets both days. Responded to say that they would look into it and confirm the correct flexirider price. As yet I have heard nothing back. Will chase up tomorrow.

I think they have had a bad week!

The new E200MMCs for Dunfermline, for route 19, should start being received next week. This will allow the 09 plated E300 bodied MAN 18.220s to start cascading to C&NL shortly afterwards.

Not that I'm aware of yet, but there was stuff about the vehicles coming soon, on the Stagecoach website.

An additional 33 buses will operate an enhanced park and ride service, using the Ferrytoll and Halbeath sites.

It's quite a large Group you know!
The additional buses are believed to be getting housed at Cowdenbeath.

Four Mans from Cambridge are being sent north. The three spare Megabuses which have been filling in for the Fife network are also staying on top of the ex Buchan's former panthers.

You would think someone would try and get some deckers.

EDIT: Of course there 19 new buses coming from the No19 so that 19 buses spare which can be used straight away or swapped over with other places over December.

Loads of buses and a £3 return fare. Not sure how many people will choose to spend two hours each way instead of cramming onto a train. Grim either way.

That is the interesting piece:

Please allow extra time for your journey however with certain bus priority measures in place on the A985, your journey should be quicker than taking the car.

Actually with the A985, It should be possible to get from Ferrytoll or Dunfermline to Kincardine Bridge in around 20mins. It also possible to get from Kincardine to Edinburgh within an hour even with the extra traffic.

Also that X51 seems to have an extra 45mins added in.
