Just a small question of the split of the 99 sevices within St Andrews splitting to be other numbers, I understand for reliabilty as at times the town centre can get busy but having the other numbers act as a mini circular is there any point to it? You could ask how many circulars does one town need?

90/91 will 4 buses an hour with 2 going in either direction. I wonder if they will swap some of the bigger MMC for smaller version to operate the town section.

I wonder if the 89 being Mon-Fri only is correct, this leaves some areas without a service on Saturdays and Pitcorthie which is currently serviced every 30 mins will have an hourly service on a Saturday but still every 30 mins Mon-Fri.

89 is a council contract, Maybe the Saturday section is missing like the Sunday section of 36.

The Consultation is now closed and all acknowledgement about it has disappeared from the Website...

Noticed what I think was Stagecoach West Scotland 15944 (YP63 PVD) on the 85 in Dunfermline today - recent transfer?

Apologies for tagging this here, it's sort of related, sort of should be a new thread.

I'm doing research into Strathtay. Does anyone know where I might obtain local news sheets (Not PSV Circle) which included Strathtay from around 1993 to 2006?
Might anyone also point me in the right direction for a final Strathtay fleet list prior to takeover by the Traction Group?

Thanksl.
I’ve been doing a lot of research recently on SBG/Tayside Regional Council operations.

Not sure if they’d have what you’re looking for but Dundee Central Library’s local history department has just about everything to do with public transport in Dundee, every chance there are archived files from Strathtay there.

(Obviously only helps if you’re in the Dundee area but hope you find what you’re looking for!)

Still no news on the Angus service changes which are happening a week on Monday?

Of course the October service changes will not help solve the issues of overcrowding on the express network.

Indeed, I've been asking them all week but no one can give me a definitive answer on when the timetables will be published. Bit ridiculous, really.

The "October service changes" have been pushed back to take effect from 7th November, they were received at the Traffic Commissioner yesterday (see here: https://www.vehicle-operator-licens...registered-local-bus-services/details/602093/)

Does anyone know if changes in Fife have all gone through to the traffic commissioner with no changes as planned or has anything been saved?

It appears the Panther LEs are finally beginning to receive the 2020 Distance liveries. 54501 YX18 LHL is now looking very yellow, photo taken by me a few minutes ago at Dunfermline bus station, tracking today on the X55. According to bustimes.org 54502 YX18 LHM has also now been repainted into Distance livery but 54501 appears to have been the first to get a repaint

What an improvement. It really suits it. Would be nice to see some branded eventually but the unbranded look works nicely as well.

I agree, it looks very nice. But then I like the LEs anyway so I might be biased!
Branded as in for the X Express? Wasn't one of the things with switching to the new liveries that branding would be permanently removed?

Many vehicles in England have had branding applied in the new liveries. It’s less common than it was but it still happens.

That actually looks rather nice on the Panther LE. Something I never thought I'd say about any of the 'Distance' liveries tbh.

Only found out yesterday when it didn't appear that the last X7 from Aberdeen at 2320 has been dropped. I notice now it was on the Stagecoach website but under Angus.

Not great, I'll have to rely on lifts now to get home.

There is still an X7 departing Aberdeen to Arbroath at 2250 though. They amalgamated the 2220 and 2320 departures due to low passenger numbers

Yes, unfortunately isn't late enough for me though as my session finishes at 2230.

Presumably at least some of those who used to take the later bus will be like me and now no longer go or drive instead.

I will write to my MP on this, I don't think it's acceptable

Looks like Moffat and Williamson have stepped in to replace the axed 77 journeys:

https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/bus...deal-done-to-save-newport-on-tay-bus-service/

A north east Fife bus company has done a last minute deal to save a threatened route between Dundee, Newport-on-Tay, Wormit and Gauldry.

Stagecoach bosses planned to axe daytime services on the number 77 between the city and the largely rural communities along the north Fife coast.

Residents criticised the changes, which they said would leave young and old alike isolated while cutting other vulnerable passengers off from essential services.

But Fife bus firm Moffat and Williamson has agreed to step up its own services on the route to make up for Stagecoach’s retreat.

The company’s depot is located at St Fort, just off the A92, and only miles from the threatened rural route.

The firm already offered some services linking Gauldry, Wormit and Dundee prior to Stagecoach’s announcement.

Replacement service will run throughout the day
The service will run throughout the day from 5:48am to 7:20pm, although it will not be a complete, like-for-like replacement for the Stagecoach offering.

Tay Bridgehead Lib Dem councillors Jonny Tepp and Allan Knox led the local campaign against the cut.

When paying by contactless on Stagecoach services in Scotland (the ones I have been on) the bank statement comes up with “Scottish Citylink”.

I know that they own a share in Scottish Citylink but does it not make sense to just make it Stagecoach as the buses are unlikely going to be used on Citylink routes unless covering?

Is there a reason for this?

Did they start doing contactless on the Citylink services first? Most likely is that's just how it was set up when they configured the systems to accept those payments and they're all just using the same backend regardless of whether it's Citylink or not.

15815,816,817,944,945 and 946 have moved from West Scotland to East Scotland. Presumably due to the fact they are now surplus due to the reduction of the 11 and X36, and the cancellation of the X34.

They can keep them. Those buses are absolute heaps.

Stagecoach have published the confirmed service changes for Fife and Perth from the 7th November. The information below is copied directly from the service updates page on Stagecoach's website. Some timetables are available to view now on the website, but most are not. Hopefully I've formatted the quote correctly.

It's good to see a few improvements to services but overall with the amount ot cutbacks I don't think this timetable will do much to encourage people to use public transport - hourly services are just not attractive.

With the amount of drivers Stagecoach seem to be short they weren't left with much of a choice other than a lot of cuts to be fair. When I've been in Fife too, a lot of the buses really weren't that busy either.

That's very true, it's understandable and will hopefully provide more certainty. It seemed cancellations were getting worse as well, I've been noticing more and more buses cancelled in the Dunfermline area, whereas before they seemed to be most affected in Perth, Angus and north Fife. I know drivers take a while to train up, I just hope Stagecoach doesn't keep this timetable for too much longer than necessary.

Some cut services see healthy loadings, from my observations, especially the 19 which is going from every 10 minutes to every 15, while some of the services seeing increases in frequency, such as the X56, are from my observations not usually not too busy. Others aren't as busy possibly because the frequencies and journey times offered aren't attractive enough, or they simply aren't promoted as well as they should.

To me, the X56 falls into that latter category - the journey time end to end is 103 minutes off peak (or 89 minutes from Queensferry Street in Edinburgh to Perth city centre). The train isn't much faster, with the exception of a handful of express services via Stirling. Returning the X56 to an hourly frequency (which is the same as the train) should therefore make it more competitive and able to win over some current rail passengers.

The X56 is being increased to compensate for the X60 being rerouted via Dalgety Bay. The X54/X56/X59/X61 combined will maintain the 15 minute frequency between Edinburgh and Halbeath P&R.

Will be interesting to see how the allocations change, as presumably 54512-54514 will not be staying on the X58. I wouldn’t be surprised if some or all of these move away from Aberhill.

I’ve lost track now as to how many times the X57 has been withdrawn and reinstated. No doubt it’ll resurface again in the future.

Don't see any reason why they couldn't stay on the X58? If they are pulled off perhaps they'll go on the X61 instead.
