I'm intrigued about how messages received by the various Customer Relations or social media teams for TOCs out there find their way back to frontline staff - or, I suppose, to relevant managers. I've sent both good and bad messages in before, and always try to make sure I put an equal amount of effort into both.
I'm especially curious that if you tweet them, you'll often get a fairly committed reply back... But unless you actually see the member of staff concerned again, its impossible to really know what has happened to your comments. To be honest, and to keep this friendly, I'm more interested in praise.

Has anyone on here ever received a nice message through that passengers have sent in after you helped them? Did you remember the people in question?

Virgin Trains said:Hi
Thanks for your recent e-mail.
It really does mean a lot to our people to receive positive feedback and you have my assurance that once identified the member of staff together with their line manager will receive a copy of your kind comments.
So often I hear our people say " I was just doing my job" when they receive recognition of their actions, but our people take great pride in providing outstanding customer service, and deep down I know that the individual concerned will enjoy reading your appreciation of their efforts.
Should I require further information regarding your nomination I will be in touch, but in the meantime the time you have taken to send an e-mail is really appreciated.
Kind regards
Jo Buckley, People Recognition & Charity Partnership Manager

Thank for your kind comments, which this office recently received.
It is always a pleasure to receive such kind words from our customers, regarding the conduct of our staff.
I can assure you that I have passed your correspondence on to the appropriate manager and the staff member will receive them in due course.
Thank you once again for taking the time to bring this matter to my attention.
Arriva Trains Wales said:Thank you for taking the time to bring to our attention the service you received from one of our conductor staff.
When passengers, such as yourself take the trouble to let us know of their satisfaction and offer praise to individual members of our staff; we make every effort to let them know that the praise has been received. We then place copies of the letter of praise on their personal files as evidence of good practice and good customer service.
With the above in mind I have forwarded your e-mail to the appropriate managers of the members of staff concerned who will take the action I have outlined above.
Again please accept my sincere thanks for writing to us on this occasion, and I trust that you will receive this high standard of service again on your next journey with Arriva Trains Wales in the not too distant future.

Thank you again for taking the trouble to contact Northern. I sincerely hope that future use of our facilities proves to be of a satisfactory standard.

First TransPennine Express said:As you would expect, we take your complaint very seriously, but I hope you understand that we have to reserve judgement until we have investigated thoroughly. One of our managers is looking into the situation now, and I assure you that we will take the appropriate action as soon as we have the full results. Due to staff confidentiality laws I am unable to share the results of this with you, but I can assure you that appropriate action will be taken and any training needs met.
