Are they any plans to draft more units in to take their place at this stage (like 377/5s)?
Well. I don't think that the 377/5 will be going to Southern as the reason is that there are delays about the remaining 707's going to South Eastern Railways from South Western Railways.

The original plan IIRC was that 12x 377/5s would go to Southern this month, but the 707 delay you refer to has prevented this; so far only the 2x 377/1s SE had have gone. I suspect the move is delayed, but not canned.

I can see many Coastway services come December being cancelled due to lack of stock and replaced for a few months by bus replacement services I don't suppose that the DFT will extend again the ability for the class 313's to be used into 2023. The question then is can stock temporarily be brought in from somewhere to replace the class 313 units until the class 377 units arrive?

I know there is some surplus class 387 Gatwick Express units, but I am not sure there is enough of those to replace all class 313's on Coastway services. Does Great Northern have any surplus class 387 stock? But I will post further questions on this in the Speculation Discussion area.

What doesn’t make sense is why the decommissioned Networkers haven’t been brought back to Kent Link work whilst the 707 delay is ongoing. Would need some out of store work doing but not much and no training needed as SE already use networkers. This would surely allow the 377/5 to cascade?

A few of them have gone to Doncaster, but at least 2 have since gone back to Ely, so perhaps they're not in service-worthy condition. Either that and/or Southern are not in a hurry to bring anything else in.

It baffles. The priority should be the passenger.

Presumably it is cheaper to keep the 313s in service than bring the 465s back.

With leasing costs on a par with buying sweets in a shop, as long as they're not literally falling apart while maintenance costs are manageable, almost anything is cheaper in comparison.

The 377/5 are needed irrespective of the 313 situation, West London Line running as 4-car (and will be still in December TT) are absolutely rammed. Things like the hourly Grinstead service off peak are also due to a lack of stock.

Meanwhile Crystal Palace is having the time of its life with its full service back.

Most Coastway services - especially Brighton to Southampton - are also rammed with 4 car units, sometimes to the point where no more passengers can board. The whole of Southern seem to be having a rolling stock shortage, so the 377/5s are desperately needed, and hopefully some 387s or 379s at some point. The issue is, you could say the same about Southeastern, who still need their 377/5s.
