Southern Advance - specified train not shown

A friend has just collected an Advance ticket (ordered online) for a return journey entirely on Southern trains.

Although the ticket has the usual "valid on specified trains only" message on it, the times of the trains involved aren't shown anywhere.

Seems strange - haven't seen the actual tickets but my friend is an experienced rail traveller and I have no reason to doubt him.

Anyone else come across this?

Is there a second coupon with the reservations on?

People more experienced than I in retail systems: is it possible for some misconfiguration to allow issuance of an advance ticket consisting entirely of non-reservable legs?

I'm not best placed to answer this but I don't think there's any technical constraint to prevent someone writing a booking with an Advance ticket without reservations to LSM (the system that powers ToD)?

Obviously they shouldn't do that, though, and there should be checks before such a ticket is fulfilled.

Presumably the advance tickets bought online. Does the online purchase confirmation show the booked train(s)?

It does.

Who was it bought from?
Southern's website, but collected at Enfield Chase.

Some years ago I had trouble with collecting tickets from a Southeastern machine that were ordered via Chiltern (only some of the coupons printed), so maybe different TOCs being involved is a factor.

You're correct, you can pretty much write whatever you like, so it is possible for a bug in the retail system to cause this

It definitely shouldn't make any difference, it all comes from the same central system and the issue process should be the same whether the TOC matches the machine or not. In most (if not all) cases the TVMs are even made by entirely separate companies

Is there not a third ticket with both of the reservations on.
