Can air-con be fitted into class 376? As they are Electrostars there might be space for units and passive provision for ducting etc. Seats might not be the best but on the short suburban routes it is not a major issue. But they can be boiling in the summer.

Networkers are badly maintained but I quite like them, they must have the most comfortable seats in any suburban trains. Lack of air-con is a pain but unfortunately I don't think it can be easily fitted in.

That's all looking from passenger perspective, I'm not sure how is their traction coping with age...

376s could be good units if they had toilets, new seats, tables and plugs added ie similar colour scheme to the 375s

shame SE don't look after them, a 376 looks rly good in SE Blue (did a artist impression a couple of days ago)

Yes they can. Fortunately the Electrostar units are modular (to a degree) and there are actually spaces for Aircon units on the Roof... Similarly a Toilet or so, can be fitted.

Presumably air cooling could be installed in the Networkers as well, seeing that it's been installed in the 165s

What "technical modifications" could the Networkers have to improve reliability that isn't really costly and time consuming (like the Hitachi traction motor switch over a decade ago)? I imagine too much won't be done to them, unless they were going to be committed to for a long time, which I doubt.

Besides that, obviously being scrapped will eventually happen, but it's clearly not imminent enough for Southeastern to mention anything on the lines of full replacement.

My thinking is it'll be nothing more than just a normal maintenance routine, which may see some old parts replaced and what they've said in that document is just PR.
