Interesting that they're advertising again. I applied in February and haven't heard anything, although wasn't expecting to until later this year.

Perhaps looking to keep their candidate pipeline full?
I applied a year ago and have only just been invited to an assessment centre which is in 12 days

Hi, I’ve applied for Trainee Driver with southeastern in early 2023, couple weeks ago received an email to book DMI, anyone else received an invitation to book DMI?
Mine is 12th August

20 minute limit to those two depots seems extremely harsh, especially as I’m in London. I guess they only accept applicants who live in zone1.
Checking the other depots it seems driving, im within 40 minutes to Grove Park and public transport wise, i’m within 40 minutes to Slade Green. I wonder if they’ll allow me to alter my chosen depot.
I actually felt my application was strong seeing as I’ve had almost 10 years experience working within public transport now. It doesn’t feel right to simply have my application withdrawn like that!

As the role is very rules and instruction orientated, the fact that you didn’t read the advert properly is possibly indicative that you may not have gone very far during the process anyway.

Attention to detail is very important.

Interesting, they've extended the online process.

My last email also said this after passing the test.

“As soon as we are able to we will contact you with further details of when we can proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process, which will be an assessment centre.”

Well, i wasnt expecting that! I actually passed my M7SJT.o_O just received the email.

I had totally written myself off as thought I had fluffed it.

Now I need to research what's involved in the assessment centre stage and start preparing.

So I applied for this early in June. After not hearing from them for a month and seeing many on here had received their invites to do the SJT I decided to send a chase up email. I received a standard response telling me they were going through the applications and I would be updated as soon as possible.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and after seeing people had received their SJT results I decided to enquire again as to at least getting the M7SJT sent to me.

Today I received an email from them. Not a reply to what I sent them but a stock email with the header ‘Your application - Trainee train driver’
in this email it says… ‘Thank you for applying for Trainee Train Driver role based at All Depots.
We are writing to advise you that your application has been withdrawn because you do not meet our required geographical criteria.‘

On the application I stated that the closest depot to my address is Charing Cross. It is 7 miles from where I live or 30 minutes by either car or public transport!
This seems wrong to me especially after waiting over 6 weeks for any sort of response.

Can anybody on here ‘in the know’ shed any light on this??
Has anyone had a similar response or know what their geographical restrictions are?
Living 7 miles from the depot and being told it’s too far seems a little ridiculous to me!

Hi mate would you have the email address for where you contacted them? I submitted my application in June, which was the same time my mate submitted his. He received email for SJT test couple weeks ago, and now he’s received email to say he’s passed. Just wondering why I haven’t been invited SJT, our applications are pretty much similar as we work together and live near one another

I would definitely appeal it as one of the restrictions I remember due to location was that they weren't accepting applicants North of the River for certain depots.

I live in east London and was just a few minutes outside of the 20 minute travel requirement for the 2 London depots. I am within the 40 minute travel time to Grove Park and Slade Green depots but was told the ad stated they don’t accept north of the river applicants for those depots.
I wish there was a case to appeal it but I’m guessing because they’ve stated no north of the river then I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if I tried to appeal?

I applied in May and was told at the time the next stage is an assessment but I got an email this week to tell me they are withdrawing my application because the advert has now been closed.

In the same email they asked me to reapply by Sunday and said that they are still keen to consider my application. They gave me a link to a new job listing and asked me not to share it with anyone.

At the end they mentioned they have changed the process and I will need to do an online test but as I have applied before they will monitor my new application and process me ASAP.

I am still waiting for the assessment center date, but we all know that everything takes time on the railway.

I received an email today inviting me to do the M7SJT test by the 8th September, I was asked to reapply for the job last week.

Any other internals been asked to complete additional ‘Internal Application Declaration’ questions? The link is missing so I'll obviously email recruitment, but just wondering if it's the same?

Is this still expected to be the case? I've seen on other threads people being invited for DMI recently from earlier application cohorts so just wondering whether people in this intake can expect to start this year?
