Exactly 365s are the same as 465s in terms of no SDO so offer no possibility of 12 car running on the Greenwich line if stopping at Woolwich Dockyard, which almost all peak time services now do, and as services on that line work other metro routes it limits many services across the 3 Dartford lines to 10 car maximum.
A single station is a limitation for that station only. The other two lines can run 12's with little issue. 12's run up the Greenwich but don't stop there so 12 car services run freely already. I would hazard a guess that Dockyard could benefit from additional services to compensate for the loss but they could be more targeted and run semi fast but then there is an issue of pathways.
The point of getting more stock would be to run more 12 car services. If 365s move then not much use on many metro diagrams.
I had heard the plan would be to use the 365's on the vic's and use the 465 stock to bolster the services where the service was reduced by the creation of 12 cars. (nicking their 4's and giving them 2 instead)
What would've been nice is 377s or 387s with SDO allowing more 12 car services than the very limited handful at present, up to 2018, but no chance of that.
I'm not a train planner by any degree but the 12 car services are only really needed in the peak. The number of crowded trains are minimal because of the mentality of the commuter. The same with the leisure traveler. The 0930 train is heavy but then it drops of a cliff in terms of passenger numbers.
I'm not sure what a unit with SDO can achieve for 12 car services that isn't already happening without it. Its just Woolwich Dockyard that is the "issue" and I don't believe that SDO is that solution there.
We need compatible units with existing stock or replacement units so we can shuffle existing stock.
Part of the gossip is that something is happening soon. I've said on numerous occasions that communication is pathetic on SE so we are reliant on gossip and conjecture and the first I'd know is TC on the roster and the unit when it turn up for me to RW.
