Clarbeston Road must be a contender - some trains to Fishguard Harbour start/terminate here.

A little village has grown up around that station - and it's population looks like being around 100. So, good call.

Kingham, on the North Cotswolds line, has a population of 969 (at 2001 census, according to Wikipedia) has several HSTs each day, although the station isn't that convenient for the village.

On the same line, if you count Hanborough station as being in Long Hanborough, and take the population for that (but exclude that for the next village, Church Hanborough) that *may* be smaller than Kingham, although possibly not.

Shipton (under Wychwood), which has a more limited HST service, is also a bit bigger than Kingham (not least as it merges into the next village of Milton-u-W)

Is Manchester airport a settlement? Or an airport?

Manchester Airport is still in the city of Manchester though, so surely the entire population of Manchester should be considered for it, despite it only serving the Airport, Manchester Business Park and the Woodhouse Park area of Wythenshawe.

Oxenholme has 3-4 IC services an hour and is officially a hamlet of about 100 people.

The Saltings has a fairly substantial population these days. Lots of newish buildings in the area. Also, Lelant itself, (including the Saltings) has doubled in the last 25 years.

There is no access to Manulla junction from outside the station, its is only for passengers changing trains.
So from the perspective of this thread, it cannot be counted as it serves no settlement, it is purely a transfer point.

I've only ever been to Manulla Junction, and there is no form of foot or road access at all to it. The only way you can get onto the platform is to get off a train, and the only way you can leave is by getting on another train.
I have never been to Smallbrook Junction but from what I can see on the fountain of all knowledge (Wikipedia), the arrangement is similar.

Looking at Manulla Junction on Google Earth, there is a road over bridge and an access road to the old Station House. I imagine that at one time that the station was available for use passengers accessing the station from the road. The RailScot website says that the station was closed from 1963 to 1988 so I suppose that they never bothered to reinstate pedestrian access when it reopened? A new access path and a foot crossing would make it useable to the locals but it seems to be in a sparsely populated area so probably not deemed to be worth the expense.

It would appear that nearly all the stations mentioned in this thread are either junctions (eg, Oxenholme, Par etc) or interchanges with other modes of transport (eg, Ryde Pier Head, Fishguard Harbour).

Yes - I don't think anyone's beaten Ribblehead and Chathill if you're looking for actual settlements rather than junctions, stations in suburbs, or village/parkway stations serving larger towns.

Gunislake itself as a village has a population of 2000 apparently, but the station comes under the village of drakewalls, of which I can't find any reference to population.
