did hear a rumour and it was a rmour that FGW may have 57604 on the last Paignton as with Weymouth which would be good. Last day should be on the Friday rather than the 1st which is a Thursday so can cover it most of the day if it does

I believe the class 90 is set-down only at Crewe (and all its other stops). According to another forum this is being en-forced and you will be charged from Euston.

Hmmm I may have to revisit the WB64 option another time. On my last trip over somebody mentioned it that Crewe was now a pick up, but certainly just inputted the 18:46 into National Rail and it is indeed set down.

Without intending to wander off topic, do they make announcements at each station along the lines of "train now approaching is not for public use?" You are quite correct, getting stung with a peak Euston-Preston walk up fare would not be worth it for a few miles fizz haulage.

Actually, I reckon you'll enjoy the Circular. The departure from Haymarket outbound is often quite, erm, stimulating! If 25 is still on it she's quite a monster too.
As for the sleeper, well, lots of (relatively) slow speeds and interesting track. It'll be a win. Lucky swine....

I don't mind getting the other ones in, and the sleeper is planned for a time when there's nothing else to do (in terms of galas, tours, etc) of interest. So the winter time I guess!

From having done no skips at all at the beginning of August, I've now done 7, 9, 12, 21 and 23, although 23 was not in the happiest of circumstances as she rescued 40145 on the East Lancs Explorer

Just spent the day on the FGW skips (005/026 on the Taunton diagram, 020/022 on the Paignton). Plenty of skips stabled at Newport and Cardiff with stock for 'Golfexes'.
