Today went very well and we all had a great time, despite the rotten weather on the way back! thanks to BJMorley, Gizmogle, Ilove165's, matt, eezypeazy, LittleRedTrain, jacknottm - in no particular order, for attending :)

The transpeak got in to Nottingham about 25 minutes down, so there was a small amount of confusion as to whether I'd missed Shauna or not! We made our way to the station with Brandon, and met up with Jack, Matt, Sam (Ilove165's) and Dan (LRT) on the station. Rather stupidly, a member of train dispatch shouted to us to say the 47s had been cancelled, when some of the party had already seen them at Water Orton! Oh well! Tom (eezypeazy)turned up after we got on the train and we set off on time. Unfortunately the ex Virgin / Anglia mk2s weren't exactly fantastic so all but one toilet was unlocked, which didn't work properley! So usual WCRC stock there...

After some heads out and a lot of talking and photting each other, we arrived at Skeg. We went to phot the rear loco and we somehow managed to lose matt and eezypeazy! So the rest of us decided to go and wander for a bit. Rather strangely, I went to Skegness and didn't even bother to go to the sea, we were distracted by model shops and other stuff. Got some awful chips, and Gizzy bought a BB gun  and then it was time for the return!

Managed to get 2 tables in the riot coach (front of the train) and it rained very violently! Even so, Brandon had to try heads out  The boredom kicked in after being at 25mph for ages, so when the rain had stopped, we relaxed and some did heads out, whilst Dan had a sleep, and me, Gizzy and Sam started playing badminton with a cardboard cup ;) however, I will say that Sam made us look like prats after he said "let's play using the mini cheddars instead!" and walloped them so far he hit (not badly!) a passenger in the chest with them! So after gizzy (and myself!) stopped laughing, went back to the cup. A rather explosive bottle of coke was opened outside the window and frothed everywhere on the side of the train (thanks giz ;)). and then to top it off, some 4 year old talking to us a lot whilst shouting "thrash! thrash! THRASH!"

A group photo was taken (think it was on either Sam's or Gizzy's camera) and so in conclusion we all had a great day :) (and a very nice departure with the ECS from Nottingham with 47826!). Thanks to Gizmogle also for coming round to mine and taking those filters, they've been hanging around for ages! Dan, Sam, shauna and Brandon got the 1830 meridian to St pancras, sorry to Brandon who's Gloucester train was cancelled!

Here are a few phots from today of mine:

Like the hand-made signs you made, although the one I'm famously holding up on The Sandblower was better 8)

Sounds like it was a fun day out, although I see someone on this thread says Lincoln HSTs are starting this December! Since when?! Not heard of that before today, was under the impression it weren't happening any time soon!

all (or the vast majority) of HSTs are being taken off London - Sheffield and are now going on to London - Nottingham, of which a couple are being extended to Lincoln via Newark Castle. All meridians will go on to Sheffield trains

I know another way that could please all of us, cut Derby out and make it that HSTs fly though Derby :P :P :P ;) ;)

Ah, shows I've been out of the loop a bit then. I knew about the HSTs going to Nottingham instead, but wasn't aware of the extensions to Lincoln. I need the track from Nottingham to Lincoln so I'll be out for that at some point.

Ta for that gen. Do you have any times?

Brandon: As much as a funky idea it would be to have some HSTs that run non-stop through Derby there's not a lot of point and it would hardly be flying. More than 20mph.

Fair play, I'll have a look and see if I can find any gen. The winter timetable should be about in the next couple of months.

If you organise a day ranger bash, I might be persuaded to go along.

Not all Sheffield trains will be 222s.

The HSTs continue to be maintained at Neville Hill so the morning and evening Leeds trains will be HSTs via Sheffield as now.

Sheffield 222s will share diagrams with Corby trains - each train will for example work a Sheffield to London to Corby to London to Sheffield - which will I'm sure prove interesting for having the wrong trains in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Ah, okay. I didn't know this.

Would people prefer this in early or late December?

Presume there is a restriction of about 20 -30 mph round the curve as you leave Derby towards Leicester and vice a versa.

It's not there.

I know where it used to be, and I can still delete my posts in chat. Just not here.

for those on about the Lincoln EMT service. This will be allox a 4 car meridian, leaving Lincoln at 0708 calling at Collingham, Newark Castle, Nottingham then the normal Beeston, Loughborough etc

Really great that collingham gets a service that hardly inhabits any wildlife never mean people, and then all the places that need it the most lose out

Having of seen the timetable for december aswell. Theres plenty more of losing out on the way.
