I've travelled on the 0900 GLC-PNZ a few times. On all occasions, staff have been really good on approach to Edinburgh clearing "bag" seats. They always are polite to the customer, explain that the seat is needed beyond Edinburgh and that, if it's alright with them, they'll put the luggage on the nearest luggage rack. They then proceed to move the luggage for the customer. Never once has a customer refused this offer (well, when I've been on the train anyway) and if they did they'd probably be forced to do so anyway. Certainly if someone had a bag in my (reserved) seat, I'd ensure that it was moved.

Looks like plenty of room on the racks for dossing down when the racks are empty enough!
Bloody enormous trolley that. How it fits down the gangways...
I concur with you Sulzer25, the amount of XC catering staff who moaned about the trolley staff and the awkwardness et al of it all back when I was cranking on them regularly was a daily occurance. A buffet car should be provided, but obviously luggage space is a common passenger complaint on Voyagers. This will go some way to dealing with that.
Why they didn't do the seat covers when they had the chance I just don't know.
Good photos there mumrar, particularly like the ones of the VWC 221s, especially 221102 on the jacks as a whole.

Ah, I guess you must have always sat at the door end of mk2 and mk3 accomodation and NEVER in the middle then. Unfortunately some of the overcrowding on trains is down to these modern type attitudes. Don't think I'm singling you out at all, but rail journeys are influenced by the companies, staff and customers behavoural patterns. The luggage areas are completely covered by dedicated CCTV cameras, but this is not going to be enough for some people.
And don't get me started on bags on seats
Unlikely to be a deterrent, if you knew that you could pick up a bag just before a station and walk off with it and be clear of the station before anyone realised or checked the CCTV. Unless the CCTV is monitored live. And yet even then how do you know who is a bag's rightful owner?

When carrying around expensive camera equipment and whatever else, the last thing I want to do is loose sight of my luggage!
