Just to be ultra picky, where are Quainton Road and Weymouth Quay, which still exist on Network Rail and at least 1 has a regular if infrequent service?

I'm hesitant over Quainton Road as unlike Okehampton and others, there is no 3-letter code nor scheduled service but I understand Chiltern sometimes sends something up there for the sake of special events which you could argue is essentially the same as Manchester United FC Halt.

I'm going down to Dorset next month so may try to have a nosey at QR on the way down as well as Newcourt and whatever exists of Cranbrook.

That reminds me with Manchester United FC Halt, can you use it if your not heading into the stadium on a match day (i.e. if I 'accidentally' catch it, can I escape the stadium area and get back onto a bus/tram or is bolted onto the side of the stadium where the only way off the platform is into the stadium?

As far as I'm aware one of the exits takes you into the car park. The others take you into the space below the stands, but not actually in the stadium. So should be possible without a match ticket. Apparently the service can get very busy so best to board one of the 323s heading that way well before it reaches Manchester.

Don't those services stop at Manchester Oxford Road? If so you will need to get on there or it would look suspicious why you didn't get off there!

I was in the loo and due to the crowds couldn't get off in time

Sadly it will involve trying to be in Manchester area when Man Utd are at home (and I don't fancy doing it on the 24th October when my next available day is (appears to be the Manchester derby, so chance of slipping out via the car-park will probably be slim)

It only took me about thirty years

Ruth had a short job on in Ilkley and as she is without a car at the moment I took her, dropped her off, drove to Menston had a quick round trip to Leeds before picking her up.
Another move that doesn't count on the wife annoyance scale.

Level crossing access is indeed the nature of the game. However both lines are bi-directional and the track layout is a bit wacky and there are no crossovers between Bare Lane and Morecambe. This means if you're coming in on a train bound for Morecambe and taking the next service back towards Lancaster you will be arriving and departing from the same platform.

You are quite right to be cautious of tight moves when it's awkward to get from one platform to the other.

I've managed to do that sort of connection once in the Paris area when chasing Z5300s for haulage; got a train from Melun one stop along to a place called Livry-sur-Seine. It's about a +5 but what I hadn't bargained for was an extremely long platform with a long trot to a level crossing.

Only just got across and onto the other platform before the sequence started.

Described how tight it was to a friend ( he's a forum member if he wants to put his hand up to it! ) and advised him never to try that move. On his next trip over not long after, he tried it - and got stuck on the wrong side of the crossing! It's an hour between trains on that line...

I had a 2 hour wait (or just over with some delays) at Kidwelly in the past because of a level crossing issue. Trust me that's not fun at all...
