Not that many new shacks to end the ALR on, but this sees the GWML cleared from Paddington to Bristol, and leaves just Kintbury and Bedwyn to clear Paddington to Exeter via the B&H

Loch Eil Outward Bound
Rannoch

Well my last 158 is probably hiding up Inverness and tram 255 wasn't out so I decided for a little run to Loch Eil & back, breaking my journey at Rannoch for a short 90 minutes before the sleeper rolled in

Even the great masterplanner goes off plan

At least getting Rannoch tonight means a slightly later start tomorrow morning (08:20 Mallaig from Glasgow rather than the 05:46ish Fort William sleeper)

What's so pointless about Locheilside? (Genuine question)

It doesn't serve anything, no houses in that area as far as I could tell, next to a busy road and nothing else. Hasn't even got decent views of the loch itself

But on the bright side, it does has a nice bench inside the waiting shelter:lol:

I've had a quick look on Google maps and there's a smattering of a few houses nearby plus a B&B and a bus stop.

A hail & ride unmarked bus stop, keep your eyes peeled for that bus and wave it down. ;)

Same with Beasdale, keep your eyes peeled for that number 500 on the front, quite hard when it be a coach

For whose who follow me on Twitter they know which was my last Scottish shack, but for those who don't, gonna have to wait and see ;)

Which shacks do you now still need in the UK (excluding Ireland?)

(* reappeared on my required list after I changed my definition to being either to alight or to board so the previous "private" station exclusion didn't apply)

Mainly the ATW ones are focused on the Crewe - Shrewsbury locals (which I might end up doing on the 23rd September now a railtour has been pushed back), and pretty much everything west of Flint

Congratulations on clearing the mainline network stations in Scotland Kite, quite an achievement that for sure!

Good luck on ATW's lot, I need a fair chunk of that lot so can't help with many of them. I can tell you Rhyl's a bit boring though!

And that one is being quite difficult due to the private nature of the station (you need permission to alight there, even if remaining on the platform)

...or you can just walk along the footpath that parallels the line and board there instead? Much easier.
