First you need to get past a locked gate

Ah. That's the first mention I have seen on this forum that the gate from the footpath to the platform is locked; is that a recent development or has it just simply never been mentioned on here before?

I assume that the gate between the platform & footpath is kept locked and only unlocked by the guardroom when required for soldiers to use

Bordesley was unplanned until I noticed a number of Bluenoses wandering about when I nipped out of my quiz for a spot of lunch and then checked the fixtures! I will probably take a wonder down that way this Sunday, alight at Exton and walk down the path to see if the gate is indeed unlocked.

(That assuming I don't hear back from the letter I sent last week)

Can't find it mentioned elsewhere in my log file

(Edit - I should probably give more context, I'm currently in the middle of doing an audit of sorts on my log file, mainly by putting dates of first visited onto my stations visited sheet, and so far touch wood [currently upto the end of the Ls] Goodmayes is the only phantom, which was spooky as I used it on Thursday to change from a 345 to a 315 for a run back to Maryland to intercept another 345.

I will probably take a wonder down that way this Sunday, alight at Exton and walk down the path to see if the gate is indeed unlocked.

I was too timid to try the gate or just mount the simple wooden fence so please let me know if you can get through the gate. I just put my arm over and took a picture (before selfies sticks were in vogue).

When I did it I walked up to the gate and just opened it. There was a guy in the hut to the army camp who did look up but that was all he did. A minute or so later two people from the camp it self actually joined the platform too. Also the guard only opened the front door of the train and called me back to the front.

You could always walk with an obvious limp - maybe try the actors' trick of a sharp stone in one shoe - and look very relieved when you find the gate, then if it's locked put your head in your hands and look anguished...
