According to ScotRail, services currently suspended from Glasgow Central to Waverley, Gourock and Wemyss Bay. Wires are down at Partick causing disruption on north and south Clyde lines, plus Perth, Dunblane and King's Park all appear to have obstructions / trees on the line. Also a reduced GLQ-EDB shuttle. Doesn't leave much else does it?

Funny, I was just about to post that!

Here's the NRE link. It's pretty severe disruption. Due to the high winds there's a blanket 50mph speed restriction across the whole country!

North Clyde and Argyle services are withdrawn, except for the following:
A half hourly service between Anderston and Lanark via Uddingston not calling at Bellshill
A half hourly service between Edinburgh and Bathgate
There are no replacement buses

There is a half hourly service between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk

Glasgow Central-Edinburgh via Shotts is suspended

Cathcart Circle services via Kings Park (the West side) have been withdrawn or diverted

Glasgow-Whifflet withdrawn

Glasgow-Gourock/Wemyss Bay withdrawn, with buses from Paisley Gimour Street. Ayrshire services are running, and are making additional calls between Glasgow and Paisley.

Glasgow-Dunblane services are withdrawn. Glasgow-Aberdeen services call additionally at Bridge of Allan and Dunblane. However, Perth-Dundee is suspended, so they're being terminated at Perth.

Edinburgh-Dunblane is reduced to an hourly service

Inverness-Wick is disrupted by a blockage at Invergordon.

Glasgow-Oban is disrupted by a blockage at Taynuilt.

Glasgow-Stranraer is disrupted by a blockage at Barrhill.

Trains are unable to call at Lockerbie due to an obstruction on the line.

Apart from that, everything's fine  I wish commuters good luck tonight, especially as there's a number of road closures in place as well.

14:07 TPE service from Edinburgh to Manchester Airport is due to arrive at Lockerbie 40 minutes late and won't continue any further south due to an obstruction on the line.

Slowly getting worse, with the 50mph speed restriction, at least nine lines now blocked

Ironically, with the ash cloud risk to air travel the demand for rail travel tomorrow could be extremely high but if the damage continues overnight, then nothing might be moving tomorrow...

I wasn't aware there was a Perth - Dundee service, I was under the impression this was provided by the Glasgow - Aberdeen service
Equally, Perth - Dundee is showing as blocked

If the info being given is correct, I shall be bashing the Newton chord tonight on my way home!

Loads of customer services staff at GLC Low Level, good to see.

It's very bad now in Scotland; lots of disruption and no guarantee of alternate travel arrangements! Lots of services are being diverted.

Why are no trains stopping at Pollokshields West, Maxwell Park, Shawlands, Pollokshaws East or Langside? Is it just the exceptional conditions or are there other issues?

There's disruption between Perth and Dundee, due to an obstruction, which means that trains for now are terminating at Perth. There is no stand-alone Perth-Dundee service, as you well know, but services on that line are suspended. There may be shuttles either end, but it's all happening so quickly that no two sources have the same story.

There are loads of trees along this section of track, no doubt blockage has occured
The Cathcart Circle services were dropped very early on, not even showing as cancelled any more!

[update 17:10]
No departures from Glasgow Central until further notice
17:13 Glasgow to Ayr will operate

Some good news. Services to Newton running as booked, apparently the Perth-Dundee line is now unblocked however there is now an obstruction between Stirling and Dunblane, there's now an obstruction between Cardenden and Lochgelly, and general disruption between Dundee and Aberdeen.

The Hamilton Circle has now reopened, so I won't get to do the Newton chord. At least I'll get to where I want to be.

Passed a 314 a Rutherglen heading into GLC.

Knock-on effects now
As an example, to keep the main routes out of Glasgow QS stock from other routes has now ended up on those, but they have ended up stranded
Rather difficult to operate subsequent services when nothing is arriving...
Even the DMU on the Motherwell - Cumbernauld service has been used on a service out of Glasgow QS, only to end up stranded north of Stirling

Ironically, the Ayr / Largs / Ardrossan service is doing quite well with it's mix of 318 and 380s today

The Newton service lasted all of one service, conked again, and took the Neilston service with it this time

Apparently ALL Edinburgh-Glasgow services have been cancelled. This could rival the snow disruption...

To put this ion context, gusting of 100mph in places, 72mph gusts (Force 12) widespread, average speeds of 40-50mph widespread- that's very, very, very windy, the sort of very windy that's very, very rare. Obviously, no replacement guarantees due to roads being badly disrupted.

Central Low Level was closed in it's entirety when I was there at 15:45 today. Also heard a rumour that a Pendolino has struck a tree between Glasgow and Carlisle.

Buses are running alright though. Pity that the £3 Lanarkshire all-day isn't valid in Buchanan Street.

Still, with the ash cloud returning, tomorrow will be very interesting.

According to Scot-rail.co.uk, they've pretty much given up on tonight, and aim to clear the lines for start of service tomorrow. Hopefully, the winds should die down tomorrow to get a service up and running. However, there may be stock "out of place" depending on what's happened so there may be some disruption even tomorrow morning.

Not where i am in Worcestershire, they've all been running fine at normal speeds (<70mph). Only one train was delayed, and this was due to a fault.

Staff hours could be another issue, resulting in last minute cancellations

The buses may be okay, but they're hardly set to replace the train services. As an example, Airdrie and Coatbridge have three single decker buses an hour to Glasgow. Compare that to the 30 carriages an hour or thereabouts at the height of the rush hour, and you can maybe start to see the extent of the problem this evening... (although, to be fair, Monklands is unusual in having a very good rail service and very poor bus service to Glasgow).

However, it's interesting to note that the EBC don't seem to have noticed this disruption. They have reported that a handful of internal Loganair flights may be cancelled tomorrow due to volcanic ash, but they haven't noticed the problems on the trains that are actually happening right now.

Forth Road bridge is closed to all vehicles.
I'm somewhat glad my plans changed and I'm not to be using the A90 today.

Many of the Roads in the West Lothian area are very bad with down trees. But at the moment the Bathgate line (well as far as Bathgate) is still open. Just waiting to hear from other half to make sure she got home safely. But guessing she has. Also on BBC news 42,000 holmes have no power.

It was definitely on the main 6pm BBC news. Image of a unit with a tree smashed window halted under a stone bridge.

Appreciate that Reporting Scotland probably has more important news about the old firms though - as always.

NRE says that theres a broken down train and obstruction at Carlisle/Lockerbie, perhaps its true.
