Whitby
The West Front and twin towers of St John's Cathedral, Paramatta, NSW, were modelled on the parish church of Reculver in 1817-19.
Earlier, in the 1770s, Captain James Cook had "discovered" New South Wales for the Europeans.
Although being born in Marton near Middlesbrough, James Cook is mainly associated with Whitby, as he moved there in 1746, and there is now the museum to his memory.
I, too, surprise myself at times.
