Ray Reardon MBE (1932-2004) was born in Tredegar and lived in Market Drayton until 1980. He won two of his six World Professional Snooker titles whilst living there.
Maybe I'm being pedantic but, IIRC, Lanchester cars were named after the suburb of Coventry in which they were manufactured, rather than the village in Co. Durham. Meanwhile....Bristol is another place whose name is associated with a manufacturer of motor cars, now defunct (although in the case of Bristol, subject to a possible revival)
