Tobermory (no "a") gained prominence as the location for the 2000s BBC children's programme Balamory which made the coloured houses of the main street famous, although they are not unique to there. Another location used for filming was Kingston, a small hamlet near North Berwick, which provided Fenton Tower as the location for Archie's castle.

Lochgilphead is the current administrative centre for the modern unitary authority of Argyll & Bute....whereas the historic county town of the former county of Argyll was Inveraray.

Dorothy Robson was born in Guisborough in 1919. She was awarded the degree of BSc in Mechanical Engineering by the University of Leeds in 1940 and applied to join the RAF, but was rejected as too short. She joined the Ministry of Aircraft Production designing improvements to bombsights. Being pretty as well as highly intelligent she became well known as "Bombsight Bertha" in Bomber Command. In 1943 she went on a test flight, occupying the navigator's seat on a Handley Page Halifax. Sadly the aircraft crashed into a hill whilst flying very low at Enthorpe in East Yorkshire. Three of the crew were killed instantly and Robson died in hospital two days later.

She is commemorated on the Hartlepool War Memorial, the RAF 76 Squadron memorial in Malton and by being represented by a silhouette statue as one of ten women who played a vital role in World War II at the Women of War exhibition in Lincoln in 2025

Bristol is another place whose name is associated with a manufacturer of motor cars, now defunct (although in the case of Bristol, subject to a possible revival)
Maybe I'm being pedantic but, IIRC, Lanchester cars were named after the suburb of Coventry in which they were manufactured, rather than the village in Co. Durham. Meanwhile....

Maxwelltown in Dumfries and Galloway also has a camera Obscura.

Dunoon is the location for an annual Highland Gathering. Rather surprisingly, so is Corby in Northamptonshire.

Taking a contrarian but probably equally pedantic view, I did say that the name was associated with, not that the cars were manufactured there.

St Margaret's Church in Wormhill, Derbyshire, also contains examples of wood carvings by the splendidly named Advent Hunstone, who was born in Tideswell.

Peak Forest was once a place where a minister could perform a marriage without first having to read the banns, as had to be done elsewhere in England. For this reason, like Gretna Green, Dumfries and Galloway, it was well known as a target for eloping couples.
