The Bruderhof (German for 'place of brothers') is a communal Anabaptist Christian movement founded in Germany in 1920 by Eberhard Arnold. In 1971, the Bruderhof purchased a property in Robertsbridge called Darvell. In 2005, the Bruderhof started a small community in East London, which is currently in Peckham in south east London.

Wynford Eagle in Dorset is another settlement whose name features a bird. In both cases it seems that the nomenclature really refers to a person or family. In the case of "Buzzard" the 12th Century prebendary of the town, one Theobald de Busar. The "Eagle" is after the l'Aigle family who held the manor in the 13th Century.

Melbury House is an English country house in the parish of Melbury Stampford. It was the birthplace of the pioneer of photography William Henry Fox Talbot on 11th February 1800. He died at Lacock, Wiltshire on 17th September 1877.

Apologies! Further research has revealed that the Oxwellmains cement works was named after the former farmstead on which it was built. Therefore let's strike out that post and continue from Rugby with:
