Knott End on Sea also has a foot ferry passenger service.
Desperate wordplay to the rescue -- Sandling, Kent (just north of Maidstone) also has a name which can be, a bit creatively, associated with that of a species of wading bird found in Britain -- respectively, the knot (Calidris canutus); and the sanderling (Calidris alba).Knott End on Sea also has a foot ferry passenger service.
As a Yorkshireman, it's still a sore subject...To the best that I can make out, Bracewell is -- nowadays, at any rate -- in Lancashire (near Barnoldswick), though close to the North Yorkshire border.
My italics -- thought there were something like 146 of them (I'll get my coat -- or, I'll be performing all next week at the Empire Music Hall in Hugh Town -- be warned !)Bryher in the Isles of Scilly was also once administered by the Hundred of the Isles of Scilly
In a rather pleasingly-rhyming situation, Manchester's south-side suburbs of Hale and Sale are within about three miles of each other. Referred to in a humorous couplet about Manchester commuters-- dating back at least to the very early 20th century, maybe before -- verging on rail realms, but I'll exonerate myself by claiming it as "folklore, not gricing" --Hale in Greater Manchester also has a church that is dedicated to St Peter.
