King Malcolm donated the royal hunting estate of Falkland to Duncan, Earl of Fife in 1160.

Malcolm IV was King of Scotland from 1153 until his death. He is buried in Dunfermline Abbey.

The industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835 -- 1919) was born in Dunfermline -- he emigrated at an early age, to the USA. Among his many beneficent activities, was setting up free libraries in a number of countries, including Great Britain; one of which was in the Birmingham suburb of Erdington (where I now live).

Llangua is named after Saint Ciwa, anglicised as St Kew, a local girl who had founded the church there. Tasked on a journey to Cornwall with ridding the region of a man-eating boar, or bear, she instead tamed the animal which became her companion (alternatively, inspired the locals to hunt it down and kill it). She was then allowed to found a religious community around which grew up the settlement of St Kew, Cornwall.

Trying to be "varied / inventive" with namesakes: Rochester has a namesake settlement in the Australian State of Victoria. So has, "at one remove", Port Laiose, Co. Laios. Until 1929, this town was called Maryborough: after which was named, in the 19th century, Maryborough in Victoria.

James Fitzmaurice (an aviator) lived in Portlaoise for many years, and one of his big claims to fame was being part of a crew who made the first East-West Transatlantic flight. His plane, the Bremen, took off from Baldonnel
