Two very different places mentioned in poems expressing acute nostalgia, written in the decade of the 1910's. Rupert Brooke's Grantchester, circa 1912, is of course a poetic "household word". And there's a less-well-known offering by the less-well-known poet John Macleod, written while serving in the Balkans in World War I and distilling in few words, great longing for his "native heath" in the Tain / Dornoch area. (Macleod was luckier than Brooke, in that he survived the war and saw his beloved scenes again.)
