Clonmel Rowing Club (CRC), was founded in 1869 and is one of the oldest sporting clubs in the town. It is located on Moor's Island, on the River Suir, about 500 meters west of the town centre. Something hitherto unknown to me -- Wiki's material on Shermanbury mentions "the Norman Rape of Bramber": which I at first assumed to be something nasty done to the village of Bramber by those badass Conquerors; further Googling revealed that in Norman times, Sussex (and no other part of England) was parcelled out into administrative divisions called Rapes. (@Xenophon PCDGS -- this is the sort of thing you'll know all about.) As well as Shermanbury, Lower Beeding was also in the Rape of Bramber.
