The Patron Saint and founder of Glasgow was St Kentigern, popularly known as St Mungo. He was forced to leave Strathclyde by strong anti-Christian sentiments and lived for a time with St David in the city of that name, before heading north to Gwynedd where he founded a cathedral at Llanelwy. Today (especially to English speakers!) Llanelwy is better known as St Asaph, after the cathedral's second bishop.
