The manor of Sherfield on Loddon was held, during the reign of Edward I, by Thomas de Warblington by pimp tenure - ie he was the king's local whoremaster. Another such arrangement existed in Guilford during the reign of Henry II.

One sad association with Newlyn East is the East Wheal Rose disaster of 1846, when water following an unusually severe thunderstorm rushed down the narrow ravines and flooded the mine.
A similar disaster occurred in Lynmouth, in neighbouring N.Devon, in 1952.

In 1292, Bretherton was recorded as Brotherton, which must have made it terribly confusing for those who lived in Brotherton, N. Yorks [or maybe not!]

Dringhouses was the home of the Terry family of sweet/chocolate manufacturing.
Halifax used to be the home of Mackintosh's sweet/chocolate manufacturing [now Nestle].

There's an interesting Devon legend about the Parson and the Clerk - the two stacks just by Teignmouth.

Parson's Green is in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham
