The band Pulp recorded a song called Mile End which featured on the soundtrack to Trainspotting. The band however hailed from Sheffield

Bethnal Green is where Len Goodman of Strictly Come Dancing fame was born he also runs a dance school in Dartford.

The Ringlemere Gold Cup was found in 2001. The Gold cup in 2001 at Cheltenham racecourse was abandoned due to foot and mouth.

The Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford wrote a tune called "Chillingham" celebrating the beauty of the countryside.
The English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams wrote a tune celebrating the place of his birth - Down Ampney.

Gustav Holst was born in Cheltenham and his house is now a musuem to his life and works.
He contributed, amongst other things, to the Three Choirs Festival.
Just up the road, a tribute to the life and works of fellow contributor, Edward Elgar, is in Worcester.
