Saltash in Cornwall also has a Pilot Gig club.
The course at High Throston Golf Club was designed by Jonathon Gaunt of Gaunt Golf Designs in 2000 to exact USGA standards. Another course designed by the company is at Swaffham in Norfolk.
Peel is the third largest town of the Isle of Man after Douglas and Ramsey but the fourth largest settlement, as Onchan has the second largest population but is classified as a village.
Weird "synchronicity" if that's the word -- Onchan has, it appears, a totally different Manx name: Kione Droghad = "Bridge End". Also, has a very nearby nature reserve, good among other things for seeing hen harriers (tending to be persecuted in the rest of Britain, but thriving on the Isle of Man). A premier hen-harrier site elsewhere in our islands, is Loch Gruinart on the Scottish island of Islay; nearest significant settlement to which, is the village of Bridgend.
Mountain Ash in Rhondda Cynon Taf has also hosted the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
I struck-out that posting a minute after posting it.Enquiring after -- of course, to be respected -- rules of the game: my cited Bridgend, is on the Scottish island of Islay. Post #22,994 refers to places in South Wales, including the significant town of Bridgend. Is the "association link" valid thus, re namesake settlements; even if geographically far apart, and very different in character?

Portnahaven on the Isle of Islay also lies on the route of the A847 road.Weird "synchronicity" if that's the word -- Onchan has, it appears, a totally different Manx name: Kione Droghad = "Bridge End". Brae in Shetland also has a sailing club.
