St Andrew's Church, Helpringham is Listed Grade I, and was originally built in the 13th century with later additions and adaptions. It was restored in 1891 (following a roof collapse in 1890) by Charles Hodgson Fowler (1840 – 1910), who was a prolific English ecclesiastical architect who specialised in building and, especially, restoring Churches. Another example of his work is St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Sturton-le-Steeple, near Retford in Nottinghamshire. This is a Grade II* Listed Parish Church which dates from the 12th century; it burned down in 1901 and was rebuilt, opening in 1902.
