Halkyn's seemingly only son of any degree of fame in the records: is Dan Jones (1810 -- 62). Jones emigrated to the USA in 1840, and was converted there to the new Mormon faith. He spent periods of the 1840s and '50s back in Wales, as a Mormon missionary; and oversaw the translation into Welsh, of the Book of Mormon (it would seem that most of the work was done by one John S. Davis). The first Mormon missionaries from the US to Britain, arrived in G.B. in 1837: their evangelising campaign began, it seems, in Preston, Lancashire.
