Hessle in the East Riding of Yorkshire is another settlement with industrial connections to chalk whiting.
Yet another kind of fish? -- sorry !

Hessle holds an annual, originating "way back" -- though in the case of this settlement; lapsed, then reinstated in recent times -- Feast: annual "fun day(s)": Hessle's one, taking place around Whitsuntide. There is a similar tradition in Horndon-on-the-Hill, Essex (between Tilbury and Basildon): its annual Feast and Fayre, at the last weekend in June.

According to Wiki, the River Crouch "flows through" Ramsden Bellhouse. The road atlas would seem to disagree, what with its showing the stream as running about a mile to the south of the settlement. In similar case would seem to be North Fambridge, Essex -- and its "oppo" south of the river, South Fambridge -- being removed from said noble watercourse, a matter of a mile or less: these settlements located some eight miles downriver, from Ramsden B.

It must be some years ago now, when the matter of a town central residential area and the actual town geographical land area of its actual land ownership surrounding the settlement was discussed on a different website to this.

Not getting cross, just asking; does the above, invalidate my post #34,413? If so, I'll strike it out.

Asheldham in Essex was also once administered by the ancient Hundred of Dengie.

Asheldham's church -- no longer functioning fully as such, through still in essentially Christian-related use -- is dedicated to St. Lawrence. Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, has a church with the same dedicatee.

Newcastle-upon-Tyne is a partner in a "friendship agreement" with assorted cities worldwide, with names "Newcastle" / "New Castle" / other languages' equivalents thereof -- one of which being: Neufchateau, departement of Vosges, France. Said French settlement has some note for its role in World War I; as does Poperinge, West Flanders, Belgium: which is twinned with Hythe, Kent.

Todmorden in West Yorkshire is also an 'Incredible Edible' town, in which fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown in public spaces for free consumption by residents and visitors.

Walsden marks the Eastern end of the summit pound (level) of the Rochdale Canal. It's Western end is located in the appropriately-named village of Summit in Rochdale Metropolitan Borough, Greater Manchester.

Another site of a 1915 industrial accident, with fatalities: Exhall Colliery near Nuneaton, Warwickshire. At Heap Bridge it was collapse of roof of paper mill; in Warwickshire, colliery fire -- 9 and 14 dead, respectively.

Guildford, Surrey, is also mentioned in one of the poems which accompany the tales in Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories.

Albury has a pub called The Drummond. Fleetwood, Lancashire, has a pub (a Wetherspoons establishment) called the Thomas Drummond.

Easy-and-lazy go-to, maybe; but -- Aberystwyth also has a pub called the Ship and Castle.
