we all have services that we hate using for all kinds of reasons from being overloaded dayly to being worked by our least favourit traction, to being reliably late but wondering from a crewes prospective what ones you dread being rostered for and why?
Primarilly rail, hense this forum, but any bus men/women welcome too. Looking forward to these

Man Vic-Huddersfields on Saturday. A hot bed for trouble these days.

Having witnessed Stalybridge station last night, I'm not entirely surprised.

A few of us went after the GMPTE Challenge and the pub was rammed, there were drunk people scattered along the platform, a few of whom were messing around very close to the edge of one of the platforms and the paramedics were in attendance for a drunk bloke who had a huge cut on his face and bandage round his head (he later appeared and slurred to someone that he had refused to go to hospital )

If people are going to promote a railway line as a pub crawl what on earth did they expect?

Imagine if that was a football fan - they wouldve been called scum by some on this forum.

It doesn't help that Dewsbury, Huddersfield & Stalybridge are on the same line as well as having pubs with access from the platform.

I would think Southport on 12th July can be a nightmare with the Orange Lodge parade there.

You're spot on with that and as a football fan of many years I find such comments very offensive. The vast majority of football supporters are well behaved and bring in a lot of revenue for the railway industry. Something that people all too easily forget. Much was made of the recent Tees-Wear derby but from what I can gather the cause of the trouble was people being herded onto a over crowded train already full of commuters. Surely a football special would have helped the situation?

Some of the Cardiff Valley's people (particularly commuters from Aberdare and Bargoed) seem to make a huge fuss if a 4-seater is taken, one group of women who travel on the 1731 Cardiff to Rhymney regularly ask people sat in 4-seaters to move!! And there's a general bit of snobbiness I don't like.

I suppose this thread could apply to any commuter services!

East Kilbrides, too busy . Carlisles , too many idiots. Paisley Canals , not enough time between stations.

do I get the impression your not enjoying life on the rails these days? What else do you work from your depot? id have thought carlisle would be a nice job but clearly wrong.

I agree with Bellwater about Lincoln-Leicester on a Saturday.... Especially if Notts Forest are at home and Leicester Tigers are playing, it can be quite dreadful.

Keeping on the same line, the 2225 Nottingham to Lincoln (SX) is quite bad, mainly because I'm tired and I want to go home, and it pootles about calling at all stops except Thurgarton and Rolleston, and we faff about reversing into Northgate... It just drags!

Before the old car park shut at Nottingham Station, a couple of Lincoln-Leicester services were almost 'Free Trains' From Newark as Guards couldn't get all the tickets done in time, so passengers walked on and off through the Car Park to the City Ground.

(Waits to be accused of calling Nottm Forest Fans Faredodgers. Oh hang on they're not a certain West Yorkshire team)

Correct !

Southport station is barriered so that there are discrete lines for people to get on/off the trains, the toilets are closed and the plastic portaloo`s that they use at festivals are brought in, and allegedly the trains are dry.

I have seen people getting off the train at 10.00 am drunk !.

I think he means the Rail Ale Trail that runs on that line. Loads of drunk passengers boarding and alighting at the stations.

Indeed, the line is now a magnet for muppets. You used to have the traditional real ale'ers on the lines, the ones who just go from pub to pub, respecting their fellow passengers and staff.

These days, you have Stag, Hen Parties, Old Men acting like 8 year olds, some of the things i've seen on that line warrants going on the sick!

I'm not surprised Carlisles are crap. 6 words. Barrhead, Stewarton, Kilmarnock, Kilmaurs, New Cumnock.
