Anything to Hertford East on lates.

O L Leigh

I went on there on the final day of NXEA. Looks nice enough in the daytime, but I imagine at night quite a few chavs come out to play. I did notice the shelter with an electric door and no glass on the London-bound platform at Rye House...

Oh boy, am I glad I'm a freight driver....

My brother is a unit man at Cambridge, the things he's had to put up with in the past make my toes curl!

But the downside is some of the crappy book on times. Used to have a job at Knottingley where you booked on 2346 worked a set of empties down to Carlisle citadel (can't remember the headcode) and then came back up with 6M14 booking off at 1111! Hated that job. Nothing like that now I'm working on passengers.

That said you can't beat the feeling of looking out of the cab window of a class 60 as you go round a left hand bend looking at 1400 feet of wagons strung out behind you............

Anything involving York races for me. Football fans seem to be able to handle their drink on the whole; racegoers have half a shandy and are utterly p###ed, then start becoming obnoxious with it. A fine recipe for chaos.

o/T, But wouldnt that be better as a light rail route?

No! Electrification, partial redoubling and an extension back to Kilmacolm have all been mentioned in recent years by various transport bodies north of the Border. Give it time and chances as heavy rail, I'm sure things will change.

Want to say any East Suffolk job after 20.00 but not because of trouble, just boring. Daft to complain on our rate of pay but it's still boring. I like the crowded summer coastal trains but hate the scum returning from late football or Cambridge Strawberry Fair.

Don't worry blindtraveller, I can see it coming at some point anyway! :( Though they won't have any excuses about having to modify units this time, and I can't see them changing the services routing to say it's an extension of an existing DOO service. We'll see what happens.
