Searching for this wagon

Hi, has anyone seen this wagon anywhere? I would really like to get hold of such a wagon!
It's a TIPHOOK Steel Coil Wagon.

I think that livery dates from the late 1980s so my guess is you won't find it around today.

Some years ago i've gotten hold of 12 of these wagons, so i know they are out there somewhere.. but how many there are left is another question
Yes, I would like to buy at least 5 of these wagons or allmost identical ones.

You are quite possibly already aware of this; but looking at the above photo, the rail type on which the wagon sits appears to be of military railway installation type and therefore suggests a location such as Long Marston, would that perhaps be a suitable place to commence your search?

Ah; tbh I thought that would probably be the case, perhaps freight yards in the Midlands e.g Bescot and around Wolverhampton area, also South Wales? Anyway good luck with your search!

Surely the way to go is to follow the trail of the ownership of the Tiphook company, trace it through to the current owners of that company and ask them what they did with their wagons?

Is it possible to do a TOPS request (or equivalent) for likely wagon numbers? Have they already been turned into something else? Like the timber wagons (but I think they are 2-axle jobs.)

They are fitted with ferry fittings, so presumably set up for use on mainland Europe. Some might be there.

The current owner of the former Tiphook assets is the French company TOUAX. I would start there.

A visit to the TOUAX website shows the former Tiphook coil carrier with the three section telescopic roof as still available for hire. There is no mention of the sliding canvas roof wagon which you are interested in. Given the French love of that sort of wagon I find that strange.

A further look at their catalogue shows a flat wagon type Rfnoos, which looks suspiciously like your wagon with its canvas roof removed.

An enquiry with them should solve your problem.

Similar, but I would suggest this is to a UIC gauge as opposed to the Tiphook wagons being built for BR use.
