Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

Hi. I’ve recently been logging into the application status page to see if there has been any movement on my application.

For a while now it’s said “under consideration” however it has since disappeared and just says “0 Applications in your profile”.

Does this mean that they have simply reviewed it and dismissed the application?

I know the application status site is not always the best for checking the actual status of an application so I just wanted to ask to see if anyone knew anything or were maybe in a similar situation.

When you send an application at SR the status on your profile will show automatically "your application is under consideration" even if your actual application hasn't been seen yet.
If you progress, it will show "your application is under further consideration". This status "could" lead to progress to the following stage which normally is an assessment. Please note that these can stay even years on your profile before you get an invite, but remember, until are there it is good sign.
The problem is if your application disappears from your profile, this likely means you have been unsuccessful at application stage. Unfortunately the recruitment team don't have always the capacity to contact formally unsuccessful candidates due the high volume of applications but they only notify those successful to the next stage.
Please also note that these informations are based from my own experience, I can't really be 100% sure if this happens to all candidates in the way I tried to describe it but I hope this could help you to understand a bit more about the process.

Yeah I thought it would maybe mean unsuccessful. Even with a high volume of applications it seems that an automatic generated rejection email wouldn’t be too difficult to arrange and would at least let people know what is happening. But like you say some applications can stay live for years so I guess they just like to keep their options open.

I would contact Scotrail and ask, doesn't seem correct it's just disappeared without any notice.

My application is still sitting at submitted and when I emailed recruitment all they gave me was that it was indeed submitted and recruitment was still ongoing with no definite timeline available.

They have a back log and that's internally never mind externally. Hopefully they get through it soon for everyone

Someone must know a percentage, hope it's easier than the one i bought! getting 60/70% when I do the practice tests for photo memory.

Having recently done stage 2 for Freightliner and passed, the practice tests I bought to practice at home require you to get all the items shown in the picture. However, on the actual day of the test, you don’t need to get every item that’s shown. Just select the items you know you have seen. So basically if you definitely saw a pedestrian, traffic light and a sign, select them, but if you think you saw, but not actually sure if you saw a bike, then don’t select it. An error will mark you down. Your better getting three correct and missing one than three correct and a wrong one. I hope that makes sense.

I have an application sitting currently. The link to the Scotrail application portal says “application under consideration”. Contacted recruitment to advise that I have passed all testing with another company and they said they are still working through applications but appreciated the update.

I live in Ayr so would ideally be looking at Ayr or Glasgow. Has anyone else been recruited for Ayr???

My job post for Freightliner has suddenly been put on hold after they decided to postpone all Driver Training. Very disappointing and frustrating, but nothing I can do now apart from sit and wait and hope something comes up with Scotrail very soon.

Hi, looking for some info on the perception test. For example is it the same 5 things you are looking for in each picture or can it be absolutely anything in each picture and you don’t know what that will be until after you see the pic.
For example did u see a bike, car, road sign, pedestrian ,traffic light or what colour of hat did the girl in the 3rd train have on. Thanks

It's the same things in every picture. There is software you can buy to practice on that's virtually identical to the test you do on the day.

Yeah, that's the software I used. I can't remember the name of the website but if you Google it you'll find it easily enough. I think it was 30 quid.

Hello all, I am not in the application process but it’s something I may consider when new posts are advertised. However, I wanted to ask about low mood medication as I’ve just been prescribed some. I asked for one that did not make me drowsy as well, I feel that I should take one that is suitable for the future just incase as it’s not ideal to switch between.

So I’ve been prescribed sertraline. Does anyone know if this specific medication is an issue in the medical?

I’ll probably post this in the main section too but scotrail is probably who I’d apply to. Thanks

I've just heard a few things about different turn times, OT(RDW) being available, then some depots have yard work aswell.

I've got a trainee driver job! Not started yet. And wanting to see if anyone has more info on the depots from a drivers perspective.

I would concentrate entirely on passing your driver training before worrying about other depots and overtime.

Indeed! Get your key then think about RDW and the like. There’s a lot of work and study ahead of you before you need to start worrying about that kind of stuff. Also, you don’t get a choice of depot, take what your given then put in for a move once your qualified and got some time under your belt.
