1st post so be kind, application forms are in so waiting patiently on closing date then weeding process. Jumping the gun a fair bit but was wondering if anyone can advise on fall out rates during training and probation period, is it once your in they work with you to address any bits your struggling with or ruthless your out type.

The fall out rate is very low as the recruitment process means that those likely to fail are weeded out. That said it does happen but very rare, it's not in the interest of the company to have invested all that money and have no driver at the end of it.

Hey folks, I take it no-one has heard from Abellio?

Is there anyone on here with insider info and can shed any light of when they will be looking at progressing to the next stage? Fingers crossed!

You will be waiting a while. Last time I applied (internal) I waited about 6 weeks for a reply. That was with around 1000 applicants. So this time it could be even longer.

One would have to imagine that they won't even consider reading even a quarter of the 22k odd applications surely and it'll be a bit of pot luck even if your app gets read?

The first sift is electronic. Basically as soon as it is submitted. Looking for keywords, bad spelling etc. Any answers missed, boxes not ticked etc will mean rejection. The job requires the highest level of accuracy and the application is the first test of that.

The one I applied for was the one that closed on the 30th of last month for the west coast. (Glasgow Ayr etc)

Thanks hunter.ed I did spend a bit of time on the application form. I don't know if it would make a difference but my application was in quite early. A few days before it was on the news etc about the jobs.

Congratulations. Do you currently live within 45 mins of where you applied for?

I applied for all, but live in North Yorkshire. I would move tomorrow as my partner is from Scotland and we would like to move there

Good luck in the assessments

Congratulations guys!

Now I'm hoping that you've heard back so soon so that assessments can be arranged and that those of us who already have the assessments under our belts are less of a priority to contact so soon but are still in with a shout.

I know they aren't sending out negative replies, but does anyone know what the last date or so will be where it is safe to say if you haven't heard it's all over...?

Can't answer that, though wish I knew. I'm probably going to assume if I've not heard in 6 weeks or year end at most, that I've not been successful.

I can understand in the days of post and paper not letting unsuccessful applicants know, but it would be great if, in these days of email and online applications, companies let everyone know.

I'd imagine they will simultaneously be researching assessment scores.....I think Scotrail demand a fairly high pass mark on the psychometrics

Totally agree. I seem to recall last time I applied I got an email saying I had been unsuccessful but that no feedback would be offered...

According to the Scotrail Facebook page it will be 4-6 week to inform all successful candidates. 22135 applications are a lot to get through!
