scotrail six month wait?

Hi Folks

Quick question is it true you have to wait six months to re apply for a similar job with Scotrail if you were unsuccessful in your previous application, job was trainee train driver, and can you apply for any other job within the toc
at any time?

Just found out its a definate six months wait though i can apply for different
rolls, bummer, ah well back to the drawing board though I wont give up.

As far as i know you cant apply for another drivers job for 6 months no matter what stage of the application you got to, a call to HR would prob answer it for you

Is there a valid reason for denying someone the opportunity to apply for a similar role at another location within 6 months if they failed at the application stage, and even though they have been DENIED feedback? Is that legal?

Well, it's a "light grey" area - to prove it was illegal it would have to be shown to be discriminatory (directly or otherwise). The lack of feedback makes it harder to prove.

Clarification:
The group standard rules, which traincompanies adhere to state the only wait period to be enforced should be upon failing an OPC assessment for railway jobs, driver guard, booking office etc.

FirstGroup HR in Aberdeen, decided they would introduce another obstacle for genuine applicants, built into their HR system to prevent 'similar' applications within six months of each other. The only other plonkers to also think this was a great idea were Southern Railway.

This restriction can easily be circumvented by using various email addresses to set up various application profiles, albeit under the same candidate name.

Sitting an OPC test twice within six months is doing something wrong, however simply applying for a job certainly isn't and the dimwits in Aberdeen should pull their finger out and realise that especially in this difficult job market.

Surely though, if they constantly refuse feedback, which in turn makes it harder to prove,then that in its-self is discriminatory?
