Hi, I have an e ticket from Selby to fort William, which I have successfully used. Scanned fine at all the gatelines but made the rejection sound on both ScotRail services I travelled on. Was accepted no problem between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street and was indeed accepted between Queen Street and Fort William though the guard seemed unsure and asked a few questions but in the end was passed and said we can't scan them yet

Does anyone know why such tickets are fulfilled as etickets when normally TOCs that lack the scanning facilities insist on CCST/PRT?

Also does anyone envisage any difficulty on my way back?

What was it, an Anytime Single for £171? That one is priced by LNER, and E-Ticket fulfillment is permitted in RCS. I think they have some sort of agreement with ScotRail.

I think Scotrail were told and didn't raise an objection. If it had been subject to agreement LNER would probably still be waiting!

Was an off-peak return at I believe £161
Similar idea, priced by LNER - enabled for E-Ticket fulfillment: https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=SBY&dest=FTW&tkt=SVR

If only retailers could just tell Scotrail their tickets were gonna be fulfilled as E-Ticket eh :P

Don’t ScotRail have the ability to scan barcodes? They made a song and dance about introducing m-tickets (grrr ) in 2022

That's their problem, but they issue barcode tickets of their own.

Rollout of eTicket capability for flows entirely in Scotland, and at ScotRail station gatelines and with ScotRail handhelds, is happening imminently

That’s excellent if it’s proper e-tickets (not m-tickets).

LNER do for any cross border flows.

Oh I agree it's no problem. I just don't get why they can scan m tickets but couldn't scan my e-ticket
