On a related note I spotted yesterday that some of the cleaners at Queen Street were wearing Express branded bodywarmers to match the 385s...

I just remembered that post when I saw this chappie cleaning the windows on the first class section a 385 while I was filming for the latest Queen Street update:

Realtimetrains is showing a path for a delivery at the usual time on Tuesday night. None scheduled for any other day yet.

Since paths appear so regularly, only to be cancelled, often after the light engine has arrived at the factory. I didn't think it worth commenting. But we are surely due a 4-coach set.

Assuming the 1 unit per week delivery pattern continues, ScotRail will have around 30 units delivered by the December timetable change (though not all units will have accumulated enough mileage to be accepted). That should be enough to fully cover all Glasgow-Edinburgh via Falkirk High services with a few units to spare which will presumably also serve North Berwick/Dunbar as well as driver training runs. Seems difficult to see 385s being able to cover other services such as Alloa/Dunblane and the new Glasgow - Edinburgh via Cumbernauld with 30 sets or fewer, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the number of deliveries to accelerate as we get closer to December.

With the Glasgow-Edinburgh via Falkirk High services and some North Berwick/Dunbar services able to be covered by 385s, the release of 380s to Inverclyde should trigger the beginning of the end for the 314s in December. Presumably 385s will then finish the job next year.

I take it the 365s are going on Stirling/Dunblane / Falkirks with E and G going all 385 .

Had a 3 car 380 from Edinburgh on Friday . Is there any plans to introduce a 1945 service from Edinburgh or Glasgow?

I seen the guy doing that on Saturday for the 2pm service . They also clean on the move , though not a fan of spraying cleaning chemicals at close range .

The light engine has nearly reached the factory. Let's hope its journey is not in vain.

As last week. Why can't they cancel the engine before it leaves Tyne yard? Who pays for the wasted trip?

It has been reported elsewhere that units 385016/385122 have taken over the diagram previously operated by 385003/385104.

Does anyone know what services out of Queen Street are supposed to be 385 formed tomorrow morning? Need to go through to Edinburgh so it's an excuse to try one out.

Don’t know about Saturdays, but yesterday and today the pattern appeared to be:

xx00 was 380
xx15 was 385 (caught my first one today)
xx30 and xx45 were 365s

1000 from Glasgow Queen Street is a 385 as I’m sat on it at the moment. I’ve upgraded to first class and I really hope that the £6 upgrade includes a voucher for a chiropractor appointment. It’s a not very good standard class seat masquerading as first class and to call it firm would be a serious understatement. The mix of the seat and the rather “sporty” ride quality means I’ve felt every bump in the track and every set of points very noticeably. It certainly has a Japanese feel to it and feels very precise and sterile but that’s not really a compliment.

I really can’t see the regulars on the E&G being too happy with the step down from 170 comfort levels even if they are longer trains.

What is it these days with most TOCs not giving a flying f&#@ about comfort levels. ScotRail had a real chance of improving the 170 environment, sounds like they have failed miserably. Your not the only one to unimpressed.

Admittedly FC in the 170 was not bad but not the greatest either.

The usual delivery schedule for Tuesday has been loaded. There's also a light engine movement on Friday, although the delivery run hasn't yet been added. Hopefully something will arrive this week!

Former transport minister Humza Yusaf is on record that he commutes to Edinburgh by train. He will personally experience the full force in the right place and hopefully can have a word in the right ear and get something done about it.

I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Given all these cancelled deliveries, one wonders if other issues have been unearthed in passenger service which require rectification before the units come north.

Compared to 170s they are less comfortable for sure but i do like the length of the longer sets , i often walk to the front . They are pretty dull tbh
