Diamonds disappeared in Salford?
Could not help remembering the title of the 1971 James Bond film..."Diamonds are Forever"...
Diamonds disappeared in Salford?
Looking at an old OS map, I can't see any flyover. There were 4 lines through the old station, two splitting left at Brindle Heath towards Swinton the other two going right towards Agecroft. These met the current Bolton lines there. The Bolton line had a stop at Pendleton station, across the road from Pendleton Broad Street.IIRC, there used to be four lines from Pendleton Broad Street [the Brindle Heath flyover provided the fast lines] paired by use, and the lines to/from Bolton trailed into/diverged from these just west of today's Salford Crescent. Then the four lines continued round the bend through Salford to Manchester Victoria.
Anybody heard when it's going to be repaired?
Pete
The rumour im the mess room is that the new diamond crossover was found with a ruddy great big crack in it. Worst of all it came all the way from Romania where another will have to be re-ordered. April has be brandished as the new completion time. Not good if true.

Clearly there is old and there is older! It does seem odd though to operate that way round and have tracks cross, but I had forgotten about the 4-track layout on the Wigan line. When did the Wigan platforms stop being used? No, that's the one at Windsor Bridge just before Salford Crescent station. The offending crossover is between Victoria and Salford Central.

Going to take a long time yet

'Inox' is correct - the first post in this thread, and photos posted since, confirms that the plain-lined crossing is at Windsor Bridge South Jn.No, that's the one at Windsor Bridge just before Salford Crescent station. The offending crossover is between Victoria and Salford Central.

I've just been into manc today and went past the diamond in question and nothing looks to have been done - is the work scheduled for all day tomorrow?
