Well,

I really enjoyed it, the pomp and circumstance, the cheering crowds, a couple of young people clearly in love and enjoying their day and all those thousands of people out in London and all around the world can't be wrong. As for them being scroungers, both William and Harry are serving Officers in RAF and Army respectively, Prince Charles served in the Royal Navy and as did Prince Andrew who also served in the Falklands as a helicopter pilot, and think of all the money they do bring in, people come from all over the world to see events like the birthday parade, changing of the guard and to take joy in the fact we have a Monarch. The thing that always makes me laugh is that people say get rid of them, and replace them with what? A president who cost the same if not more, remember when Tony Blair was PM, he wanted his own jet similar to Air Force One that the American President has, and a president wouldn't bring in the cash, who wants to come and see a president? Hasn't got the same pulling power.

Just my views of course but I'm sure somebody will take offence,

Kind regards

Here, Here!

God Save the Queen!

found a link:

http://twitter.com/#!/martinbrunt/status/63995617013280769

doesn't have much there though

I decided to go watch some of my video 125 DEV's instead of the wedding as all this talk etc about the royal wedding has gotten on my nerves this past week.

I do wish the couple good luck though

I'm working nights, so missed it all. But quite gutted to get up and discover that the flypasts went right past the living room window.
Seen some bits and pieces on the news, and I stand by my earlier assertion. Philippa is definitely fitter :D

I haven't been out of the house and garden all day other than to get something from the car which was parked across the road, spent a few hours watching TV and I have to say that I feel like I've had a really happy day, the media circus has really done well creating a party atmosphere.

I enjoyed it, very well done by all accounts i say, all the best to Wills & Kate! Very nice day it looked although i did start to get bored at parts, but overall enjoyed watching the day on the TV, put a smile on my face :D as did the 1 million? people who lined Whitehall and the Mall by the looks of it, also glad to see nothing went wrong for the many many billions? watching from across the world, once again well done to all involved and i enjoyed the day! :D

Some of you may be interested to learn this American's perspective:

I must say the news of the wedding did nothing for me. However, I do appreciate the sense of tradition and feelings of good will that a royal event such as this brings. It's a national tradition that brings people pride and happiness. I get that.

What I do not understand is the hype that many of my fellow citizens and media have gotten into over this event. I've found that it's mostly women who have really gotten excited about this. Most of the articles I've seen have been written by women. A family friend expressed her opinion on the matter by saying "it makes every girl feel like she's 6 years old again by seeing a woman become a princess." I can't really identify with that, but I'm guessing that is why the wedding was covered so heavily by the media here. That, and A) we both speak some form of English, and B) a lot of Americans view the royals on the same level as other celebrities.

I had to shake my head when visiting CNN.com today; the photo of the royal couple in the Aston Volante was more prominent than news of dozens of tornadoes that occurred yesterday throughout the US South, in which hundreds of lives have been claimed.

I'm actually quite surprised to hear that. I would have thought that such big news would be considered more important than the Royal Wedding, considering they're not even your royal family!

Obviously, it was the same over here. You'd be forgiven for not knowing about it, and it slightly sickens me that news is being forgotten about it in favour of a wedding. Don't get me wrong, I wish the two of them well. But the last week in news (and television) has been almost nothing except this wedding; even the Morning Star (the most communist newspaper in the UK) managed to lead with it!

That said, I'm quite optimistic that it will boil down quite quickly, and we won't be going on about it for too long; probably won't be as bad as England's World Cup failings...

You know, it's strange, as they seem to be more interested in the US about this wedding than we are! I was listening to the radio on the way home last night and some analyst was saying that America has really been captured by this whole 'royal family' deal.

I certainly agree with this statement.

A friend of mine from Hampshire visited New York a few months back and was very surprised at the amount of news coverage the upcoming wedding was getting. It's been in the news for what feels like forever now. I'm glad it's over, and I certainly hope the couple have a happy marriage.

"Glasgow City Council had urged people not to attend what it described as an "unsafe and unofficial" party.

However, organisers of the event set up a sound system with DJs and thousands danced and drank in the sunshine.

Eyewitnesses described "chaotic" scenes and sporadic fighting.

Officers on horseback were brought in after police were pelted with bottles."

That's what really seems to be the biggest difference between drinking in the UK and Europe (perhaps not always but it seems more prevalent here, getting as drunk as possible and then causing trouble). Such a shame.

It may be worth mentioning that Harry was born in 1984. Diana did not meet James Hewitt untill 1986.

I thought the wedding was lovely. I wish Williams mother had still been with us to see it.

I celebrated the royal wedding by...
1) going to Homebase and getting a couple of lamp standard fittings (for some reason, BOTH the bayonets on both my bedside lights went kerflewy), then fitting them, and...
2) watching the IPL cricket on ITV4. Chris Gayle was in a destructive frame of mind, till the leg spinner Sharma did him for pace.

[Rant] I regard the royal family as an anachronism - a total waste of space. I cannot give any amount of respect to a group of people who do absolutely nothing, live in comparative luxury AND receive obscene amounts of money from us - the taxpayer. When they go out and give us the priviledge of their prescence, they expect us to bow and scrape. Now, to top it all, one of these sponsored scroungers gets married, and we're supposed to gor "Hurrah!" Not a chance - my view is "Oh God, here's another member of the uppers class who wants to sponge off the state".
I used to live on a street that came off The Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Every summer, Liz & Phil come down and doss down at Holyrood for a few nights. When they were here, it was murder for the local residents, as they were all treated as potential anti-royal assassins, so whenever I nipped out for a pint, there were all these men in dark suits with curly leads coming out of their ears! On one occasion when I went out for the evening paper, I was in the Royal Mile when the cavalcade went past. I showed my displeasure by deliberately showing my back (no, NOT my backside) to whoever it was, while the rest of the crowd cheered and waved.
Someone should tell Harry that his real surname is Hewitt, cos it sure isn't Windsor![/Rant]

I think that:
A You'll find that they are costing a lot less than all the dole
scroungers, fiddling M.P.s and illegals that we are having to house and
subsidise and

b They actually earn the country millions in the amount of
tourists that come here specifically because of them? My Eurostar
mole tells me that for the three days before the event every inbound
train was rammed.

c How many 85 and 90 year olds do you know of who are still expected to
perform their duties?

Now, im not one of these people that gets all excited at the thought of the Royal Family (although i am very glad that we have a monarchy). I didnt watch the wedding. I didnt see the need to, but, i must say one thing.
Your jealousy absolutely shines through, more than all the lights of Buckingham Palace put together.

Well as far as Mr.Obama goes, his approval ratings are down big time. His health care reforms are very unpopular and a Quinnipiac University poll showed that 48 percent of American voters disapprove of Obama's job performance, and 50 percent think he does not deserve to be re-elected in 2012, compared with 42 percent who approve and 41 percent who feel he does deserve to be re-elected. I don't know about the US and a monarchy but I doubt severely that Obama will still be in power come the next US election.

What they don't tell you is that the whiter than white Republicans are blocking any attempt at reform :(. Have to agree he won't be re-elected, it was also a poor election to win given the onset of the recession.

That's a whole new can of worms though

I know. The Republicans told Obama to take the fight to Libya, which he did, and then they criticized him for doing so!

I don't think so, if anything the German method of having a President and a Chancellor (ie: Prime Minister) would work more than having a monarch.
From what I understand the US press is even less respectful than ours when it comes to celebrity gossip

There's lots of talk on the BBC News channel about whether or not the worlds media will leave the Royal Couple alone, or chase after them cameras blazing. Nobody even knows where they've gone for honeymoon.....yet!

The media so far, and hopefully continue to be, have been very respectful to William and Kate.
